Is this phone so good?
Can anyone (varkey or anyone else) tell me the disadvantages of this phone? (some said slow software/low battery life).
Can these issues be solved with a software upgrade? (noob so please excuse).
I have a friend coming over from UK and am in a dilemma whether to get it from there or not owing to the mixed reviews on the internet.

Bro, availability is the issue. It's out of stock in Prepaymania too.
For the price, this phone is really awesome.

Major disadvantage is the slightly low battery life, but its not so bad. The stock ROM is waste with lot of Orange apps etc, it will be much better once you install a debranded ROM. I'm on a Custom Eclair 2.1 ROM, and it's responsive etc. Though it does get slightly slow occasionally which I believe is common for most of the android phones in this segment.Darthcoder said:

Thephone is really VFM @ 8.5K. The processor is a bit slow and the battery life is not so good. But if you can get hold of one of those OLED version - it's a Kick-A** deal.
You can bring a few through him and help the fellow TE members for sure (even you can charge a small premium) . Actually I'm in line for one.

Software is pretty good. I cant say it is slow by any standards.
The issues that might bother a user are
1. Low battery life. Will give about 1 day with call of about 2 hours or so and net surfing of about 1 hour or so. I usually need to charge every evening after office.
2. Audio player volume. While the quality of audio is not bad when couple with a decent headphones, but the volume of the headphones is pretty low by my standards. I would say while I was happy with volume of about 70% on the sony k750 and could find even the htc tytn II volume decent, this is about the half is volume.
3. camera is pretty poor. Even in indoor conditions with lightning the camera struggles. its almost the same as with htc tytn II

OLED seems to be infact more washed out when in sunlight
To me atleast OLED seems to be a bit overrated. I have the OLED version, and my sis ke liye the phone i got is TFT, but I cant say that the display will stand heads above everything. Yes the blacks are better, but the colour scheme of themes are such most of the menu are white on black background making the contrast awesome.archat68 said:Thephone is really VFM @ 8.5K. looking for an entry level android, this phone is way too superior to stuff available in the same price range in india.
