Asus Xonar sound cards - DG,DX and STX

Hello Pristinenote,

I am a little inclined towards the Xonar ST card(hopefully in stock).....but I have a doubt of how to connect this card to my existing Creative Inspire T6060(5.1) setup.....I have noticed only two connections (Front R & Front L) but no connection for subwoofer......Do i need the extra daughter card for this purpose?

^ ST is in stock but its a stereo soundcard with SPDIF capable of 5.1 out ( for AVRs). The extended daughter board adds the 5.1 functionality but it is not available in India. Out of the box I don't think you can connect the T6060 to the ST .

If you are looking for a 5.1 sound card the Asus Xonar DX will be good enough for the Creative speakers.
 
^ I was actually thinking to buy that card but is it recommended for driving my ATH-M50's(still to receive the shipment)......lot of people suggest that DX is not a perfect choice for the M50's......

Very true i had a Asus Xonar ST and hooked it up to my home theater "Sony HT-M5" using SPDIF it was awful compared to my old Creative GigaWorks T20 which was using the stereo analog line. Turned out that the digital way of doing thinks did not impact much on sound at all so SPDIF is a waste.

I searched all around for a extended daughter board even went to the extend to order it over ebay.com but it never got delivered i gave up and sold the card :(
 
Imo the greatest advantage of using a sound card is to use its analog connections. Digital is pure sound but it doesnot mean it sounds better than analog ;)

True it seems with every new generation of IC's the sound quality is actually decreasing, i tried the latest creative Core3D sound card in Asrock avatar and its poop. I had sold off my T20 speakers otherwise would have kept the ST but for digital connection it did not make sense at all.

Now in search for Xonar Hdav 1.3 to fill the void :(
