PS3 Jailbreak - Discussion Thread

You sure? Plays the older eboot games too?

If that's indeed correct, I think it's time for me to update too!
yes you play older patched games too. And in case the old games are not working then you can update them through multiman, it will wipe off the previous patched eboot and you are good to go

@gREen nope, when my older games were not working ,i just updated them in multiman. It downloads some new files. Maybe my method will not work for very old games which do not have any updates. I guess changing permission is better then. It saves the hassles of downloading some new files

multiMAN ver 04.30.00 UPD CEX (PS2 games loading dummified)

OMG! This is as simple as it gets. I might give it a shot later on, as I was keen on trying out some PS2 titles like Smackdown Here Comes The Pain & Shadow of Rome again.

Ethan, did you manage it to get any PS2 backup up and running on the mutiman 4.30? I tried it on Rogero 4.30, but unsuccessful by far :|

I'm now on 4.40 and unfortunately, I haven't attempted to run a PS2 game on it yet. Come to think of it, I'm trying to find a PS2 disc shoved somewhere in my collection, but I can't seem to find a single disc, since I sold my console. I had handed over most of my games to the buyer, but I vaguely remember having a few. Which game did you try? What exactly happened?

I tried SmackDown HCTP, and I got this "The copyright protection information is invalid (80029513)". I think I need to be on 4.40, which has the reactPSn thing.

Hey Ram. I got my copy of Here Comes the Pain today. I was all prepared to try it out on the PS3 with this classic thing, but I decided to give our old PCSX2 emulator one last shot. It had been quite a long time since I had tried this and I remember it being disastrous mess, each time I did. But now that I had a Quad CPU and a good GPU, it was time!

You won't believe me when I say this, but the game runs like a dream on PCSX2. I'm talking miles better than the PS2 (obviously) and far more superior to whatever the PS3 emulation would have offered. It's constant 60fps in 1080p with 4X AA. Believe me, the detail looks absolutely amazing and the AA really works. I didn't have to tweak a lot of settings either. The only thing which is crapped out is the 'Now Loading' screen, which shrinks to an abnormal ratio. That's not even an issue as the loading screen is barely there for 3-4 seconds. I guess the upgrade really paid off. If you still want to try this game, do it on the PCSX2. This just proves yet again that PC can handle anything which is offered by console and even perfect it.

Damn PCsx2 totally slipped my mind all this time. Yeah I remember HCTP running decently well on my old core 2 Duo. Now with the i5, like you said, all should be better. Thanks for the heads up ! :D

Yep. I just completed a 'Bra & Panties' match against Tori. Oh the fine memories! I'll have to hook up my second X360 controller and Tornado Tag Team, here we come.

Also tried Hell in a Cell with 4 players and it didn't have any effect on the frame rates either.

Allwyn, any idea if Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks works without issues on the PCSX2 emulator? Had read up on this sometime back and there were a few bugs and glitches w.r.t. textures.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I have that disc with me. Though I ran a check on YouTube and there are quite a few videos which show the game running perfectly. Might as well grab a copy and try it out. This is one co-op game which was hard as balls, especially the final battle.

Any PS3 which never shipped with base firmware on 3.55 or below cannot be hacked to install a custom firmware on it. The E3 flasher downgrade is only for those PS3's, which have had 3.55 and below firmware in the past and have now been upgraded to a higher one.

hey guys

how much would it cost to get my slim 4.41 ofw flashed/downgraded to 3.55 & then cfw installed in mumbai? preferably by someone who can do some diagnosis of a peculiar hardware issue i'm having with it.

Update to Rogero's 4.40. I'm not sure why people are still on 3.55 when the EBOOT release frequency is uneven and uncertain, while Rogero's plays all the games natively. The only issue I see would be re-signing the older PSN games with the new keys. Apart from that there is no reason to still stay on 3.55 firmware now.

i don't know reliable sources to download 4.40 cfw.
is this a reliable source?

Can i downgrade back to 3.55 from 4.40 rogero in case something doesn't works?
