Should i Go for that Westone 180$ deal? There are reviews about inflated/muddy bass response. Not being a basshead I'm slightly concerned, but the prospect of a westone 3, even if the sound signature has a minor skew, at such a price is highly tempting!
I was looking at 100-150$ earphones anyway.. will this be better than the ones in that range - like RBH EP 2 (which has got great reviews in sub 200$ range)?

Reviews are always subjective. There is no saying that you'll like the Westone 3s; you might love them, you might loathe them. unfortunately, you gotta try them before you can be sure. reading about them won't help beyond a point. But at $180 you cant go wrong. These were regarded by many as the best universal IEM till sometime back. Worst comes to worst, you can sell them on TE, maybe for a small profit even :)

Be specific on the "future" part. How many years are we talking about here? :p
IMO you should buy it now. However I doubt your current Q6600 rig would be able to fully utilize the SSD's capability. Get a board with 6gbps SATA support.

So, Nook Simple Touch is $39 and Nook HD is $79 on Barnes & Noble. Can't get better than just, unless you get it as a gift.
