The Indian Politics Thread

Very real. Our learned Health Minister wants to ban "so called Sex education", remove vulgarity(god knows what vulgarity he saw) and wants to put "Values" in Sex education. Everyday im more convinced that UPA, as bad as it was, was still better than these retards.

Wait, wait... do we have sex-education in first place?

Oh no, UPA was worse. Let me tell you whats happening in teh Congress controlled region near mumbai here in maharashtra. Recently May happened ot be the most hottest month since 1880 or something. These guys here decided to punish the people for voting for BJP. So our electricity was cut for almost 12 hours a day everyday. When finally the people agitated and held a morcha, the people were told "You voted for modi, go ask him for electricity".

I think what this guy means by "Sex educatiion" and "Values" is that they will teach boys in schools how to rape girls ...not love them....and before raping the girls, they say "sorry bhehna". I believe both the opposition and current government are one and the same. We just get turned over every 5 years and get ........ in the other hole . thats it.

Yes we do. Its there in the CBSE book. Everything from anatomy to fertilization. Separate sessions for girls and boys are also held depending on the schools.

In our school we had a session where the principal explained the details and that its natural to be curious about stuff and if we had any questions regarding sex or masturbation we could even approach any of the married teachers in the staff room since its a mature and important part of the life and that they will suggest consulting doctors affiliated with the school if it questions are not of general nature. They also did a discussion on condoms(and risks), safe sex, pregnancy and STDs. Also about the huge amount of cultural fud being spread around periods and stuff.

It was in all ways very enlightening and mature. I dont remember anyone taking it in a not-so-mature way. Ofcourse int eh science class there are always a few giggles when the teacher says Penis or Vagina. But nothing harmful.

I wish they also did a session on LGBT and gender. That shit needs to really be circulated. Kids that fall under those groups have a harrowing time in school and outside.

What a childish and whiny bunch of a-holes. State elections are in 4 months. People are going to keep this in mind and vote for Modi's party so in the end, do they not understand that it will hurt them in the end or they think that they have already lost state election too and doing this for childish satisfaction?

Who is the beneficiary of such a story ? the opposition. So i don't buy it.

hottest month since 1880 means overloaded circuit for which the only solution is load shedding otherwise there are brownouts. its in exceptional situations. Controlling energy prices means there isn't more to invest in adding capacity. Or to buy more from other states will be more expensive and force the state into deficits. This is why you got 12 hr power cut.

This is a common story all over the country.

Oh well they can actually win. They use force here. Take for example a person stood for election the last time ...uncontested.... no contenders stood against this person!

Oh no. Load shedding is normal here. This was done on purpose. That has been confirmed. We usually suffer a lot due to load shedding here. ...but this was like a minimum of 12 hours going upto 18 hrs a day. Demand and overloading had nothing to do with it. We are accustomed to 4-5 hours load shedding in summer normally.

If it is currently one of the hottest periods of the past century, then I'm sure they won't have enough supply to meet the surge in demand, whether they want to or not. I'm guessing temperature sensitive industries will be using up a bulk of the power supply by arranging deals with respected officials; after all where profits are to be made they are also to be shared :) Maybe that's the reason normal people are facing such a big downtime. I'm just guessing though.

How has it been confirmed ?

12-18 hrs a day indicates a breakdown some where in generation.

^^ Unlikely that the sole reason is break down. If its due to technical issues, it would be widely publicized. Low production and technical issues may be only part of the reason. I can believe that such deliberate actions can be taken even if its stupid.
Here in Hyderabad also, there is power shortage. Power cuts are in the range of 3~4 hours officially in all areas. However in 4~5 regions that predominantly have people from Andhra regions, the power cuts ranged up to 9 hours. Apart from the official cuts during the day, 4~5 hours is being cut during night (between 12AM to 6AM).

I didn't think that it there was such a pattern and I am not sure that the local govt is even involved, but it did exist and somebody claiming to be from the local electricity dept was even bragging about it. Unless its massive a coincidence or there is some inexplicable reason for it, I have no other means to explain it except that its deliberate.

There is a very simple reason. Make the incumbent look bad. When people are upset they are easy marks.

State elections are coming in a few months, this is just one element of it. Remember that article 6pack posted before the general elections where water would be cut unless some villages voted for Supriya Sule. Same pattern.

So it is settled. The finest political pundits tell us that Narendra Modi is finished because in his first month in office he has not been able to transform India. These political pundits and their comrades have been invisible since May 16, but they are back now. The day the railway fares and freight charges went up for the first time in more than a decade, was when they first started to reappear. Discredited Marxists, socialists in graded shades of pink, ‘secular’ political philosophers and ex-MPs manifested themselves on news channels to gleefully taunt the Prime Minister.

‘Where are the ‘acche din’ Mr Modi? See how you fooled the people with your campaign and now the people will soon discover that they were fooled’. This particular comment was repeated so often it became a communal chant. Communists who swear by China’s model of development were most vocal in the chorus. They know that the Indian Railways is a bullock cart on rails compared to China Railways and they do not want this to change. What puzzled me was that not a single TV anchor (in English or Hindi) tried to explain why the 14 per cent increase in the price of railway tickets had become necessary.

When I tried to analyse why, clarity quickly dawned. It is that old gang again. The same people who predicted that Modi would never become prime minister, the same people who said India would break again if he did become prime minister. These same people now want to ensure that he does not stay prime minister too long. So silly statements by novice ministers are magnified into serious political discourses. And any sign that the Prime Minister may really be signalling a new direction is ignored. His first speech in the Lok Sabha in which he reminded MPs that they represented the hopes of a billion people was mostly ignored by political pundits both on TV and in the newspapers. Why? It was the best speech made in Parliament in at least a decade.

If you want to understand why this happened, you need only YouTube any news channel’s reportage of last week’s summons to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi to appear in a Delhi court on charges of fraud. The compassionate tone of the anchors, the imputation of malicious motives to the magistrate, the subtle support for the Dynasty will help you in seeing the nuances of current political analysis.

Most political pundits in the national media like to think they are guardians of India’s ‘pluralism’ and cannot believe that the voters of India rejected this fine ideal. But, there is more. They do not want to admit they may have misjudged Modi. They will be very disappointed if in the next five years there are no pogroms against Muslims. They pretend otherwise, so there was hysteria over the tragic killing of the Muslim IT professional in Pune. Notice that almost nobody blamed Maharashtra’s Congress government. The Prime Minister was blamed for inspiring ‘Hindu triumphalism’.

Political pundits who remained silent, or spoke only in whispers in the decade in which policies made by Sonia Gandhi and her extra-constitutional kitchen cabinet ruined the Indian economy, have now found their voice. And, it is a shrill, unforgiving voice. So in long years as a political columnist, this is the first time I have seen a prime minister judged on his first 30 days. He is right when he says that not only has he been denied the usual 100-day honeymoon, he has not even had a 100 hours of a honeymoon. He needs to get used to it. The national media seems to have resolved to play the role that Opposition parties usually play in Parliament.

The people of India will give him more time because it is they who ensured that he became the first prime minister in 30 years to get a full majority. So he needs to communicate with them directly and often. If this monsoon remains as bad as it is so far, the poorest Indians are going to suffer even more deprivation than usual and a contingency plan needs to be carefully worked out already. It is not good enough to start threatening ‘hoarders’ with dire consequences. It would be far more productive if the ministers in-charge of food and agriculture were ordered immediately to make better use of the mountains of grain rotting in the fetid warehouses of the Food Corporation of India.

It would be best for the Prime Minister to personally take charge of the contingency plan so that in rural areas where the rains may fail, there are provisions for free kitchens and other assistance for those who are most vulnerable. It is things like this that the Prime Minister must concentrate on without worrying about political pundits. They are not on his honeymoon.

I read in Hindu or some other newspaper that govt has released 5 million tons of food grains in market to reduce prices to counter all the talk of less rainfall this year (which might pull up prices).

Also good thing they didn't start that food subsidy project. Instead of that they should make all employers (builders, companies, contractors, shopkeepers to anyone who contracts a person(s) to do a job) give one meal free of cost to all their employees.
Builders should be forced to give free lunch to all their workers.

Yes cause they dont have anything better to do? The wages already include money for food, these labourers prefer to cook at home and bring a tiffin. (PS- I have seen this with my own eyes. Given money for food, they prefer cash to take home)

And why should the shopkeeper be tasked with the hassle of procuring and delivering it?

Many of u frns don't know what congress has done to the economy on realising they will not be able to make it in elections. Chiddu hold the payments on tax refunds n subsidies amounting to hundreds of crores in last qtr, he had raised this mandate to all his officers. This is just one part of it. Due to all this the outflow and in flow has created an imbalance and the govt has make provisions to recover the additional monies they will have to shell out. Refer the article if u want to read more. This the reason we are seeing hikes in train fares n petrols. Quick way to recover losses as they are very mass consumption and majority in cash.

LOL All hail the bhakt logic. All of that amounts to almost nothing.

Tax refunds. LOL find out how much Direct tax accounts for as a percentage of tax collection. Then find the percentage of refunds and then divide it for a quarter. It'l amount to nothing.

This is all fekulogy from NaMo. No one can control inflation. Neither UPA nor NDA. They can only try to manage it a bit. The problem now is that Modi was shouting out of his back side Cursing the "Maa bete ki sarkaar" and now finds himself flat on his backside doing the same things UPA was doing.

Oh and look what unkil Mudi was saying right before the elections. The joke's on us.

My friend used to say, bring Modi and make him PM, I will promise you petrol price will be 50rs. he he.
Hahaha There are many of those retards everywhere. Now when you ask them, they've suddenly lost interest in politics

Same article goes on to say..

A report put out by Moody’s, the international rating agency, on 19 June, emphasised that the primary objective of the finance in the budget would be to rein in the fiscal deficit. Implicitly fingering the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA), the rating agency said, “Wide budget deficits have kept India’s inflation high and contributed to a widening current account deficit between 2011 and 2013, which heightened exchange rate volatility and resulted in higher domestic interest rates. These trends have exacerbated the slowdown in GDP growth since 2011.”

Now i was under the impression that the last govt had left the deficit in good order. The curbs on gold imports helped to rein it in.

Of course you can control inflation, it needs tightening up and that is usually politically troublesome.

Whether this govt can do it or not depends on their fiscal policy. if its wasteful then the RBI can do little. This was the problem with the last govt.

The problem now is that Modi was shouting out of his back side Cursing the "Maa bete ki sarkaar" and now finds himself flat on his backside doing the same things UPA was doing.
This on the basis of what ? 30 days

I'll give 3 years to deliver and the first two of those years will be lousy as hell.

First i am not a "bhakt", i am very curious about economics and its affects. Second, u sound like a congress "bhakt" who always wants to share one thought of considering facts as rubbish. Did u miss subsidies to fertiliser companies? And if the amount of direct taxes is so less can u tell me what would have tempted the FM of India to hold the payments? Well u also do not know that our FMs have all been promoting gold smuggling in India, since a very long long time. Y? y does food inflation always rise during bjp's rule? Probably look at things from the perspective of economics n not a "bhakt".

@Party Monger inflation can not be control when all u have are policies which provides monies to ppl to spend and no work at all. Inflation can be controlled govt focusses on economy and not vote banks for next election. Inflation can be controlled if the FM does not puts his nose onto Rbi, sebi and prevebts scams like mcx which have resulted into artificial increase in rates of products and that too for years with future contracts. The fact is govt had no point of income other than disinvestment and that too was blocked as market was not in good shape. See what the very highly qualified economists have done to this country. Policies focus on giving monies and not employments. The entire northern belt suffers from electricity shortage. The new power plants which should have started are all blocked in clearances or coal issues. Factories are shutting in southern part due to electricity shortage. Fmcg clients have closed their plants. And by that time china creates one single dam which creates energy as much a half of India's needs. Look what govt did for mangoes this season, nothing. Their imports were banned in USA and Europe. If not in thousands than at least in hundreds I'd crores would have been generated. N we are still with our eyes closed on all of it. Its time we keep the "bhakt" initiative aside and see things as they are. N about modi, he is a good policy maker n his strong persona has make him rise above the Congress. The opposition does not even have a strong persona who can take a dig and make commitments. Still I am neither with modi nor against the opposition but what u can commit also matters. I am concerned about India. Not who rules it.
