Xiaomi Redmi 1S goes on sale on Flipkart for Rs. 5999

Selling goods higher than MRP is illegal in India.
Applies to any goods or just essential ones ? govt states what is essential or not.

That is why after the hue and cry over soft drink prices at restaurants, they now serve bottles with higher MRP printed on them. Same bottle in a shop costs half the price usually.
restaurants can charge what they want. I've only noticed the pizza delivery people using bottles with higher MRP's printed on them. And the price marked isn't double, but 50% above.

Remains to be seen whether that will be the only batch or whether there will be more rounds.

Around 1lakh Moto G2 imported @10.6k...:D Great going Flipkart and Motorola :D :D :D

Supply is 143k units and this figures suggests they do not have any fears over sales.

Surprised they've already arrived, they were only unveiled in Chicago yesterday !!!!

All thanks to moto. That alone would make me prefer them over xiaomi. It means when you recommend moto chances are normal of actually getting one.

Yep I want the Redmi, but will go with motto if I can't source them, even if I have to pay more for them. Sourcing Xiaomi phones can be frustrating!

Best they can price the Moto is 12k to really beat the Mi3. But they will price it higher probably, and then again Mi3 may or may not make it to market again, and certainly not anytime soon.

This Diwali - Moto G (new generation)...

What i don't like..

- you must buy when they tell you to buy and not any other time. window to buy anything else is 6 months to a year. here its like one month assuming they do more than one round otherwise its less than a week. Authoritarian model. Scarcity model. You're in a desert and this is the price of water.
- if you do buy when they say to buy you are not sure of getting it.

As I mentioned a few posts back, I sent a mail to Xiaomi and Flipkart regarding the illegal re-sales on ebay and other places. Here is an extract from the reply that I got from flipkart.

"We are thankful to bringing this to our attention.

Please be informed that we have already taken necessary action against customer who is misusing the priority access.

Also, Please be advised that we are working really hard to cut down the rate of resellers".

So, I guess flipkart is at least trying to cut down the resellers and taking action where its possible.

Yeah, Hugo mentioned in an interview that they restrict sellers based on address, etc.

I once ordered two Mi3 in a single sale to my address. They cancelled one order.

The problem is MIUI takes almost 800mb RAM itself and only 200mb RAM is left for other apps. During multitasking, apps start to freeze and close itself. But one should not expect much at this price point. The problem would be resolved with kitkat update on the phone. For links look at MIUI official forum.

Been using the phone for nearly a month now. Haven't faced any such issues.

I've heard they occur with games, but that's the one thing I haven't tried.
Have you tried to do multitasking such as Email client, Whats app, Music player and Browsing simultaneously?

Looks like flipkart has started dispatching the phones today. So whoever were lucky to order than on Sep 1st and 2nd, they should get it within next couple of days.
