A-VO-ID: Do a minimum RC of Rs.35 per 28days or No outgoing calls (Even with Main Balance!)

Guys a quick query. I'm on Vodafone postpaid and now between my billing cycle I have to mnp and I stay in different city so is it possible over the fly without actually visiting my city outlet?
What happens to my deposit amount? How it will get refunded?
And I will be going from postpaid to prepaid from city to city so is it going to be a complex transition?
If you average Vodafone bill comes to 1k just make an advance payment of the same to Vodafone, After this visit the jio/airtel/bsnl outlet you want to port to.

Also once the porting is done Vodafone should take around 3 months to refund your security and last bill balance if any.

Can anyone tell me if I can port from Postpaid Airtel to Jio Prepaid (or Postpaid)? It's for my father's number. If prepaid, we would like to do a 1 year recharge instead of doing monthly or so. Does Jio have a good 1 year plan?

yes to all.[DOUBLEPOST=1548092411][/DOUBLEPOST]and vodafone has been extending outgoing validity of my number for 4-5 days since last one month without any deductions.

Anyone suggest the best operator to go with to get a non Vodafone number? Airtel or Jio? Just need a prepaid "timepass" alternate number to use for non critical usage and people I don't care to stay in touch with not to mention all these online portals that first force you to share a number before letting you in on offers and deals only to spam you for the rest of your life because you "agreed" to their usage T&C

I have both Airtel and Jio 'timepass' numbers. I would choose Jio for two reasons:
- Better internet speed in my area (you will have to check in yours). Works better as a backup in case DSL goes down.
- Jio has a one year plan (for about Rs 1700, unlimited calling, 1.5 Gb/day data), I can recharge and forget about it for a year. The last time I checked the max validity for airtel plan was 90 days.

One advantage of Airtel is that they have offices everywhere. If something goes wrong, it will prob be easier to talk to a real person (rather than some idiot in a call center).

TX for your excellent reply buds. Appreciated

Guys, is it true that Jio won't work on iPhone 5S? The my jio store guy told us that only data will work and not voice calling. We wanted to switch to Jio for my dad.

You can move to prepaid -

Vodafone - 1500 - 1GB/day
Airtel - 1699 - 1GB/day.
Jio - 1699 - 1.5GB/day, double data offer for certain Xiaomi phones like RN6 and POCO F1.

The main advantage for Jio is that they are offering double data offer. I am getting 3GB/day now for 1699 thanks to doing the RC on a POCO F1.

Airtel will have cashbacks which will need to be done with the myAirtel app.[DOUBLEPOST=1548251171][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yes. 5S does not support VoLTE, 6 onwards.[DOUBLEPOST=1548251286][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, they might not allow doing a postpaid to prepaid Airtel, will say you should wait for the date or what not excuse. I would suggest to port out to Jio or other operator instead. My experience almost in April was very sour, but YMMV.

Will airtel work fine ? I mean he is using airtel now too. But he has data disabled and almost never uses data. Home has WiFi and outside he says he doesn’t need data.
If it works fine (4G) with airtel and also voice calling on his 5S I can try to get it to prepaid instead. Also his phone is boost mobile iphone 5S. So not completely sure about the bands and whether they will work with Airtel or not.

If he has been using it with postpaid, it will surely work with prepaid. Ask him to use data and check, most of the postpaid plans do include some data at the very least.

.

Instead of providing 1GB/day for year why not provide 100 GB to be used within a year. I am sure they will attract more customers that way as it will work as a backup when broadband goes down.

they love to impose consumer-unfriendly schemes to their paying customers. with a daily limit they know not everyone will use the daily limit everyday hence make more profits.

They would rather that you pay for postpaid for that. Or data booster.

They may copy Jio's 5K and 10K plans yearly for that.

Apparently they read my thoughts. Airtel has introduced Rs 998 pack with unlimted calling, 300 sms/28 days and 12 GB for 336 days. Good enough as a backup for BB. They also have a similar plan for 168 days at Rs 597 with 6 GB limit.
