How to block cellular network at home

This wfh situation has made life miserable and slavery with exploitation for our companies. SO even weekends are regular jobs leaving always in the stress of working and no freedom to spend lazing off time or family time etc.

To counter or say restrict this situation I'm looking out for some diy stuff which will help block my phones network sending out of coverage message to the caller.
I have tried every corner of my home, furniture, cupboards etc. but today everywhere the network is present.

I'm looking out for diy in designing a box or something in which when we keep the phone the signal will get blocked.
I read there are some materials through which networks wont penetrate and might help block the signals.

Can someone help in this?
This will benefit a lot of people around.

Airplane mode will result in you callers receiving switched off message, which you don't want.

What I used to do, make a very crude Faraday cage. You probably have one at home. Your microwave oven(not convection, not otg).

Disconnect your microwave (so that no one accidentally uses it) and place your phone on some paper napkin or a plate(so that it doesn't get dirty). Close the door. Wait for 30s and try calling your phone.

It should now say 'Out of Coverage' area instead of switched off. Switched off sends a message saying it was deliberate. Out of Coverage area, not my problem ‍;)

For more effectiveness or it doesn't work, try wrapping your phone in few layers of aluminium foil before putting it in microwave.

IIRC, getting the 'Out of Coverage' message for people that called you was easier when phones had removable battery, all you had to do was remove it while the phone was working. The phone sends a signal when you switch to Airplane/Shutdown mode that lets the network provider play the 'Switched Off' message which would not be sent as the phone would meet an abrupt power cut.

1) You could just buy a cheap mobile pouch of like 200-300 bucks on AliExpress, they really block all signals and work great. I have one myself.

2) Put it in a microwave, again it works. Try it.

3) Abruptly remove the SIM card, used to work with removable batteries earlier but the same can be done by removing the SIM card, then put it in offline mode, insert the sim and just toggle back the offline mode when you need it. So much better that way.

What? Can't you just switch off the mobile radio?

For Android, it's very simple to do: open the dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#* > Phone info > disable mobile radio power.

Of course, unless you're willing to tell your coworkers/bosses that weekends are OOO time, they'll just call or text you on whatsapp etc.

This doesnt work these days even if you put your sim in old phones and pull batteries live...

I think op wants to jam his own network not others in his house. For him everyone will suffer as well. Not a solution but a headache for people around.

Even I tried the oven thing and dint worked. Not have any foil thing to test.
Any more ideas?
Jammer will be an overkill as I dont want my family to suffer. Unless a very basic jammer which can jam only a single room.

Understood phone will not work what about the Skype,Zoom,Webex and your boss daily update on email at the end of the day about the task completed and emailed to you. Nowdays Micromanageent is at highest peak. If you need Appraisal you need to prove this to your boss baba

Exactly. There's a hundred and one ways to reach you, and a simultaneous phone and wifi outage at your home every weekend will become suspicious very quickly.

The only solution is to push back against this expectation of working on your days off. If that's not feasible for whatever reasons, you're out of luck IMO.
 
Talk to some friend who is having huge network issues at home, there will be plenty, whichever the network.

So forward your calls to his number and period might need some doing but a pretty good way.

Otherwise buy a new sim from the most pathetic network provider in your area and put it in a crappy phone and forward your call to this number on weekends..

BTW toilets are places where the network tends to go down by 2 to 3 bars so may be use that [emoji12]
 
If you are using JIO then I guess you are in luck. My OP 5T is dual sim but single VoLTE. I have to have JIO as my data card for JIO to work. The moment I switch data card to Airtel my JIO phone number goes offline. Callers get the "Out of coverage area" message.

My no is airtel but I also have jio which I use in its wifi dongle. If I divert my airtel calls to jio and if the jio sim is in dongle but turned on, what will be the scenario? The jio isnt recharged nor do I want to unless if it works.
Will it ring in dongle mode?

I'm not a social person and like other I wont die if I dont use whatsapp insta or fb. I believe in living peacefully without gadgets at least 2 days a week.

That is weird. my phone looses connectivity when kept in the oven - I just checked to be sure.
