Market Section - Product Pricing n Discussions [NO Price checks]

Yeah, the sale turned out to be a bit of a letdown.
People sell goods for all sorts of reasons. Nikhil said his friend was given a project from Siemens which got scrapped and he needed to sell this before prices got worse.
Not the first time either, I had reason to believe because he had also sold brand new sealed cpus on this forum earlier (R7 2700's) at 11k a piece when they were selling at 17k on the market.
Amazon had some sort of deals in which 2700 were sold for 12699/13699 by Appario Retail for over 2+months (even deal is posted in the Amazon deals thread here on TE) before price was hiked to 17k few weeks back.

You said that mods are not worried about origin/source of product. What will worrying do when there is no way to ascertain that with 100% surety. Again, you can also only speculate and not know with a 100% surety in the case you mentioned. It is definitely a 'too good to be true' deal and one should be wary about such a deal. However, it's my personal belief that I shouldn't and can't allege somebody of some wrongdoing without having proof. This is what is wrong with our country today where anyone can accuse someone without any proof and then the responsibility of proving innocence comes on the accused.
Agree with you. Also, like I mentioned it to him over pm, this forum or any marketplace in general operates on good faith. There are too good to be true deals. Not the first time someone would have sold something way cheaper than the market price.

Again, while this is true, he chose to sell them for 11k when the current market prices were not 12699. Again, not judging him in any form but all good things will sound fishy.
Another seller sold GPUs for post ampere prices before ampere was announced. So should we start doubting everyone?

This is false equivalence.

So why are mods locking threads before feedbacks are exchanged? One thread had issues, mods rushed to lock it. Why dont the buyer or seller make public the issues they faced.

Why is that post still allowed? Isn't it OT?
Post automatically merged:

If you are already in discussion with someone at the earlier price, then its not allowed.
Otherwise, you can change
And what if the seller cites the "demand/supply" argument? And what if the discussion was done in PM with one person and then increased for another person? It's not like anyone else will know about it anyway.

Now that so much has been said in the other thread about what should and shouldn't be allowed to discuss in a MP thread, I would also like the opinion of members on how to deal with posts like these -

1)https://techenclave.com/community/index.php?posts/2216941
2)https://techenclave.com/community/index.php?posts/2216948

Both these posts don't have any link of the current price of the product being sold in the thread. They are not wrong in what they are saying, but at least in my eyes, they are bullying the seller to reduce the price without posting any link of the current sale price. Should posts like these be allowed and if not then what form of infractions should be given to the commenters.

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong thread, but there's no clearly defined way to reach the mods.

I joined this forum two weeks ago, met the two days active, two posts requirement for the disciple badge and completed my first trade even. Today all of a sudden, I'm back to the recruit level. There was some talk on change in pre requisites for posting sell threads. Even now, the sticky thread is showing 2 days 2 posts, but exactly below it there is a link that leads to a page showing posts in mod approved forums.

How do I know which is a mod approved forum?

Why are these things so convoluted?

Can I get my disciple access back or can the mods please clarify what I need to do to get the sell thread privileges back???

This moderator approved posts is bringing an old problem back. People who are only interested in selling their stuff here are shit posting here and bringing quality down of this site.

Example: https://techenclave.com/community/threads/oppo-officially-confirms-entry-into-smart-tv.194142/unread

No source link provided. His previous tech news post was a similar one liner with a link included but was months old.

This is just one guy. I'm sure if i start searching, I'll find others doing the same. I'm not singling him out here. Just pointing out the drawbacks of this system.

You can't force people to post properly when they are not interested one bit. Just shut down market section imo. Too much trouble. Let everyone go to olx or other places.

No disrespect to anyone. but the Market section is the only thing many users (including me) come to this forum for. Evidently because we were tired of all the haggling and trolling on sites like olx and quikr. Even though there is no accountability over trade and monetary risk involved here, People still trust this site because of its long standing presence.

I'm sure the 25 posts thing was implemented in good faith to discourage trolls, but new members just see it as an impediment to get to their sales and shit post. Mods have a tough time regarding all this im sure, but no matter how many such implements are used, those who intend to troll will keep trying to no matter what.

The trust is because people participated in the forum, got to know each other and then traded with each other.
If people are coming just for market-place then this is even more dangerous than OLX because at least on OLX, you meet, inspect and then pay for the product, but over here it will be much easier to defraud people.

It doesn't work the way you want it to. Why will I trust you when you are only posting in the MP and will you be willing to ship first to build the trust. This is why it is more important that people come to the forum for anything but the MP and then build rapport with other members and then you can trade on the trust you built.

I'm sure that was pretty much the case when this site was started, a close group of people building trust and exchanging tech info and trading. A long time has passed since then, with everything being digital now and people seeking instant gratification wherever they go - you cant possibly expect that sort of behavior in this day and age now.

There are a bazillion sites to get product reviews and tech advice from now. Thousands of amateur and pro youtubers churning out tech content everyday, If one cant watch all that and formulate their own opinion based on that, its because they are lazy and want a pre baked and readymade answer waiting for them. they will come and ask - is this / that compatible with so / so product and ask for recommendations. The advisors will give a reply based on their limited experiences with the product in question (regardless of whether they have used it or not). How many tech advisers here post proofs / images backing their recommendations or should we just take their word for it because they are patrons of this site?

Ill just re quote a random post i saw by some millennial on the cancerous facebook the other day:

"there was a time, when people were being respected and technology was being used, now technology is respected and people are being used."

I was born in 1990, do not agree to any such nonsense and have no ill intentions while using this site. I am no moral police / gyaani of any sort and dont want to drag this any further into an arnab debate.

The veterans of this site intended this site to expand its userbase and receive more traffic. Unfortunately this is the kind of users and traffic one can expect right now. if you think shutting down the market section will solve your problems, by all means do so.

I am not someone who wants the marketplace to be shut down no matter what. You talked about the trust this site has and I was only talking about that point and how members of this forum built that trust. So if we stop doing that, then the trust will get eroded slowly if frauds start happening. Already there is so much unnecessary 'halla' going on which is already eroding that trust.
