Market Section - Product Pricing n Discussions [NO Price checks]

You may think asking for traveling expenses is scalping but I don't. It's like shipping and handling. Why should you pay for the labor of those packing the product and the supply chain till the courier? Same concept.
Of course, if after he adds his expenses, it's more expensive than the retail price, then who tf would buy it from him? But no sense whining about it here, makes you look small not him.

Reseller crap is going on nonetheless, why aren't you people up in arms about that?
There's a shady guy still selling stuff, all I'm asking is for an explanation, not an invoice or a box or even a photo, but he's mum and the mods are deleting those kinds of questions of the very product he's selling!
You should be more concerned about that kind of stuff if the question is morals or ethics, but getting stuff for cheap seems to be more important...
 
Also please explain what you're doing about Amazon.in etc selling stuff at a much higher price than 2019. I'm not talking a couple bucks. You know what I'm doing about it? Not buying stuff that i think isn't worth the higher price.

It would be scalping if someone bought something for 10k and then selling at say 11k just for profit right? At least the dude honestly explained that he was charging for his traveling expenses. Which is fair to ask for. It's also fine to tell him politely that since this takes the price more than the retail market price, it's not sensible. Making fun of him for it and accusing/insulting him means your ethics is way worse than his.
 
Isn't that the dude who had multiple visits to the service center and finally got an RMA replacement from abroad?

Sellers can price the items at any price. We are the one who are not supposed to buy it. Isn't it? :smiley:

Yeah i saw it both before and after he edited it and he had mentioned something along the lines of traveling expenses, not bus/rickshaw like you keep mentioning

I have been reading the replies here.
I feel a seller is free to quote any price, free to add any amount to his price owing to his expenses, that aint no crime..
Even if he is looking to make a profit out of existing price hike or a scarcity of an item in market even that's fine...
Also the forum doesnt allow anyone to purchase via a valid sale thread and resell it again here at a premium so that's sorted.


But with all this I wish to ask.. We call ourselves a responsible community... Shouldn't it be our responsibility that a buyer who is a so called Bakra { isn't aware of the actual market value of an item} or is a newbie, be somehow protected or helped in realising that he in fact is paying more than the item deserves....

I know its a buyers responsibility to update himself/herself about the features, pros, cons and prevailing value of an item... But when we are a community shouldnt we be taking some measures to atleast update such buyers...


See as i said at the top i am okay with price thing buy just wish to ask when we are a community then shouldn't a community be taking care of ignorant ones the so called Bakras...

I don't wish to offend anyone by sharing this and i may be wrong here in thinking there should be a system but its has been there in my mind so thought of asking.. .

Firstly, the marketplace is not the centre of attraction of the forum and neither does a forum want itself to be known just for that. Secondly, people aren't respectful or mindful of the way they say these things. This results in wastage of mods time on petty things and so instead they created this thread so they don't end up wasting their time in cleaning up the sale threads. Thirdly, the community aspect has changed over the years. I clearly remember when I joined a decade back and bought and sold stuff over here, there was hardly any bargaining at all. But now even buyers will lowball you like it's OLX. So when that happens, what would have been rightful advice, seems like bullying tactics, especially in cases when the tone of the statement is not right, to get the seller the reduce the price.
There used to be so much interaction among the community on a variety of topics and that is what used to bond us together that we didn't feel like bargaining or asking a higher price from each other. Sad to say but that is not the case anymore. The bond is there but not as strong as earlier.
I saw the XDA marketplace close due to similar discussions. We Indians, including me were buying phones left, right and centre and reselling them in India. But there was nothing unethical about it. But such discussions ensued and XDA marketplace was closed. But both sellers and buyers formed another forum and even then people's bonds were much stronger as we used to hang out a lot in the General Talk section of the XDA Marketplace. I am still in touch with a lot of guys from those days.

Do agree that things tend to blow out of proportion and spiral out of control even with good intention.

Mods.know it too. For them as long as item has inv copy and pics, it is fine. If it reaches buyer, well and good.
They are not to be worried about origin/source of goods. fyi, buying & selling of stolen goods is an criminal offence. No, i am not saying particular item is stolen or like that. But fishy. Very fishy.

How are mods supposed to check whether a product is stolen? I am sure moderators are volunteers and don't get paid anything and even if they were how can one still be 100% sure that a product is not stolen. Also, this is neither an escrow service like eBay so everyone should be trading only at their own risk. Frankly speaking even I don't like this sudden influx of new members whose sole purpose is to trade products. If I were to do a deal with any new member I would definitely not make payment first.

Who said anything about mods knowing it is stolen or not? I have been saying feom day 1 something is not right here, 35k cpu sold for 22k. Noone doesthat , what ever the reason.
Use some logic.

Yeah, the sale turned out to be a bit of a letdown.
People sell goods for all sorts of reasons. Nikhil said his friend was given a project from Siemens which got scrapped and he needed to sell this before prices got worse.
Not the first time either, I had reason to believe because he had also sold brand new sealed cpus on this forum earlier (R7 2700's) at 11k a piece when they were selling at 17k on the market.

You said that mods are not worried about origin/source of product. What will worrying do when there is no way to ascertain that with 100% surety. Again, you can also only speculate and not know with a 100% surety in the case you mentioned. It is definitely a 'too good to be true' deal and one should be wary about such a deal. However, it's my personal belief that I shouldn't and can't allege somebody of some wrongdoing without having proof. This is what is wrong with our country today where anyone can accuse someone without any proof and then the responsibility of proving innocence comes on the accused.

This is also wrong in our country. Something wrong happened , no proof so keep quite.
