Corona virus

My Mother Tested Positive for Covid19 on the 18th of October and I had to admit her. She is 71.

Her symptoms started on the 10th with a sore throat. She then developed a cough and eventually lost her appetite completely, became extremely weak (even chewing her food became slow and difficult) and from the 17th evening she developed a temperature (99-100.1F). Her sense of smell was there but she did get a stomach upset. On the 18th morning I checked her Oxygen Saturation Level (SpO2) via an Oximeter and it fluctuated between 86-88. She could hardly sit straight due to weakness and her breathing was very heavy. She tried to stand up but fell on the bed almost instantly. Worst of all she then started hallucinating.

I clearly realized something was very wrong and I did not delay. I took her to AMRI (Kolkata) and admitted her immediately. Her Saturation was at 84 then and she ran a mild 99.9 temperature. They conducted a test and she unfortunately tested positive. She had elevated CRP (C-reactive protein) and D-dimer. The doctors gave her a course of I.V Dexamethasone along with Inj. Remdesivir along with her other regular medicines. After a couple of days she started feeling better and she was released from the nursing home on the 23rd without symptoms. I'm now solely taking care of her at home and slowly her weakness is going away. Hopefully with time she will return to good health with her diet and care. I'm trying my best to give her all the support I can. It's a lot of hard, daunting work managing everything at home single handedly in a well synchronized and timely manner but so far managing it.

@Black_Hawk Wish your mother all the best for a full recovery. Take care of yourself too. Don't skimp on meals.

Yes bro, I'm maintaining my diet as well. Can't get weak because there's a lot of household work that is to be done everyday. I had COVID in July and the damn body pain took 1.5 months to heal. Nightmarish pain it was for me. I had fever for 3 days (99 - 101.5F), slight cough and terrible, absolutely terrible weakness. Waking up and getting out of bed was a felt like a real task. I didn't get any other symptom. My fingers were so aggravated that I could hardly hold a pen to write. I remember I was playing The Last of US Part II then and had to completely give it a break because holding the controller hurt so much! This damn Virus affects people in so many different ways... uuf!

Avoiding things proven to be dangerous makes sense. Avoiding something because it's a chemical is ridiculous. Water is a chemical.
Yeah, water and ethyl alcohol are equally toxic i guess... :angelic:

I guess you also have proven data on the (zero) long term effects of alcohol absorption through the skin too.

"Long-term chronic use on the skin could also be a problem."

Update: My Mother is doing better now after returning home on the 23rd. So far I have been managing everything at home, well at least trying to and so far it's been under control. Primary areas are cooking, sanitizing the house, attending to Mom when she needs help. Mom is slowly recovering her strength and is adjusting back to normal life. Her appetite has improved and she is eating. She is more active now vis-a-vis last week. No body pain or breathing trouble, no fever or cough either. Hoping things stay on track and I'm able to get her back to full strength in the weeks to come.

As for me, my 15 day Quarantine ends today but I will continue to stay at home unless otherwise required. I had COVID in July and now recovered without any symptoms. I still gargle with Betadin Gargle twice a day, regularly. My body pain is almost gone now, damn pain lingered on for almost close to 2 months. I cannot even begin to say how agonizing my body felt, specially in my fingers, wrist and leg joints. The fever (99F to 102F) wasn't too bad but the pain made it 10x times worse. This damn Virus is such a curse!

The only positive to have come out of all this, is that my Father who abandoned me when I was about 12 years old (I'm 38 now) called me to know how me and my Mother are faring. Took him more than 2 decades to do so but yeah... Life is strangely bemusing.

Could. Maybe. If anyone gets around to proving it.

Again, avoiding something because it's a "chemical" is a dumb logic. Tea is made up of chemicals, milk is made up of chemicals, saffron is made up of chemicals. Don't avoid something because it's a chemical, avoid something because it's proven to be dangerous.

No idea why you're stuck on the semantics of the word chemical.

As I've said before ethyl alcohol is not the same as water even though both are 'chemicals'.

The US FDA has issued warnings about methyl alcohol content in popular sanitizers. Which can be dangerous even used topically on the skin. Surely the risk would be far greater in our well regulated country where every Tom Dick and Hari are making sanitizer.

Yeah, so if you're done arguing about the word chemical, go and use some sanitizer. I'll avoid it as much as possible and stick to soap thanks very much.

India is the best.

I took multi vitamin tablet with dinner for past week and I can taste everything now. Now it feels like my taste buds have reset to max settings and I can taste too much salt in everything I bought from outside. I guess it's true that Indians eat too much salt and we have become used to it. Eye opener for me.

After taking multivitamins daily I observe urine become pale yellow
