4. Now this M1 chip: I'm not a technical person, but I did expect at least Apple's own softwares should work with the new chip flawlessly. At least the Youtubers said so!!
Everything was running great for them!!
But in reality, even the latest updated Logic Pro X DOES NOT work properly in the M1 machines.
Your previously saved settings do not load half the time, the midi editor acts funny at times.
Most importantly rewiring Ableton crashes the damn software everytime.
Oh!! Even if you set up the program to autosave the project every 10 minutes, it doesn't always work. You may loose hours of your work in these new fancy Apple toys.
BTW 90 percent of audio interfaces do not work, even major ones like UAD. ( It's not exactly Apple's fault, but it looks like the entire music industry is against Apple...even Native Instruments didn't bother to update Kontakt to work with these machines)

Getting back on topic, I think I'll wait for these headphones to go on sale in the US and ask a friend to bring them over. Maybe the back-to-school sale sale next year with the new MBP14 with M1x/M2 chip. Seems like a great combo to be honest, my laptop has been through so much shit in the past 5.5 years

Heavier laptop doesn't mean bigger battery. Plastic construction will obviously weigh lighter then metal.

Comparing Apples with Oranges, those laptops are not ultrabooks like Air, doesn't have same resolution either. That's like saying I can decrease the car engine size to increase its fuel efficiency. That doesn't translate to engine efficiency.

Haha again dodging all points of discussion and points told by me just spouting something useless over and over. Peak hypocrisy.

As someone has already pointed out just like many made up things apple being sturdy due to aluminium is a better fabrication than the machines they make.

It is even more foolish or greedy for apple to make the laptop weigh more and not even provide any use to the end user. Maybe if they would have used that weight they could indeed have benefited the user instead of just a 1-2 hour battery gain, if that.

More weight equals more battery life, who told this?

Better battery life is because of efficiency of chip thus optimisation not more weight. Everything is not about specs..

* for an intelligent manufacturer...do you think battery is the lightest part of the laptop? Do you think battery doesn't have mass?

In your equation of battery life is

Battery life= air* efficiency or battery capacity*efficiency?

Ergo. Battery life is proportional to battery capacity is proportional to weight

But when you are apple you use the weight to add nothing.. Others don't need battery efficiency if they have 45% more weight room to add a battery...

Apple has made an inferior laptop build and is too greedy to add additional battery which is why they are trying to sell efficiency coolaid to its fanbois.

Other laptops that are lighter have additional 400 gm weight margin but they aren't adding more battery because users don't care about that couple of hours of additional battery life. Anyways there is an option to do that as the weight margin is there.

Anyone can make a V6 engine but not everyone can make the most efficient V6 engine that gives the best fuel efficiency along with lowest emissions. Most companies spend all their manpower and money on making their version more efficient.

It's not a coolaid, there's a thing called performance per watt in chip industry. Apple has beaten Intel here.

so you think ARM in mainstream computing is unnecessary?
Battery efficiency is a simple calculation of tdp of all the individual components in the system. the best x86 processors have around 15w ARM are famous for having less than 5w tdp. shoving a bigger battery to compensate for shitty processor efficiency is not the best solution.

Great for geeks and enthusiasts who are a very select bast. Mass users just go for either battery life or battery life and weight max.

If the end user prefers light weight they can go for that or choose a heavier one with the same battery life.

Why come on a Tech Forum and waste your time and energy if you have to think like an end user all the time..
Haha coming from apple fans thats the most ironical thing i have ever heard...quite rich to say that...

Isn't the moto for apple fans... "its not about the specs... Its the experience for the end user"

Anyone who has bothered to register in a Tech Forum is certainly not an end user. Why pretend to be one?

Since when weight has become the only factor in user experience?

These are the typical misguiding videos!!
96 instances of space designer !!( a convolution reverb) only an idiot uses reverb that way.
99.99 percent of engineers put one or two reverbs on individual tracks, rest is an effect track with a reverb in it and you use "sends" of your individual instrumental / vocal tracks to that effect channel. Same with delay effect.
People use reverbs to give a sense of area where the recording was done.
A convolution reverb simulates a hall/ room/ cathedral etc. Your instruments are in that space, so you send part of the dry signal to that reverb channel. Not add individual reverbs to each track.
It's not only stupid but also will sound incredibly poor.
Moreover space designer is a native Logic plugin...what about something really great ( which is actually used in many records) like Altiverb!!??
Watch the video again, he is just using Logic's own Compressor and EQ on almost every track...96 instances of a convolver yet no plate reverb on snare drums!!
Even the VSTis are all Logic instruments! Sure you can set a mock up with them, but I don't know who can get away with strings/ brass/ woodwinds samples from Logic samples only without any Kontakt sample library at least.
I'm not even talking about the huge libraries actually used in studios..just Kontakt libraries for bedrooom producers.
I understand it's a gen 1 product and not perfect, but this kind of rubbish will only make it worse for Apple.
THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY APPLE GETS SO MUCH OF HATE.
Logic is a brilliant DAW, spacer designer is possibly the best convolution reverb that comes free with a DAW. Altiverb itself costs many times more than the entire LPX package.
Buddy, I'm a noob at technology, but CERTAINLY NOT in music production, audio engineering. I have invested at least 10 times more in production softwares than a 27inch iMac. When you buy a thousand dollar software, you learn it by heart. I have done it few times and learned them inside out.
I've seen the M1 Air stutters even with native Logic plugins ( it's much more stable in that Rosetta mode thing), nothing from UAD/ NI / iZotope and FF is working .
Even if Steven Slate makes a video of Logic running smoothly I won't believe it.
I don't know many things, but what I know, I do understand it very thoroughly.
SHAME ON YOU APPLE !! SHAME ON YOU!! 96 instances of space designer!! Post it to some audio engineers forum, see their reaction...an old guy ****ing with a great DAW and proudly uploads it on YouTube...awesome.
You wanna know what real real musicians think of the new Apple direction? Watch Rick Beato tearing them apart in a rant video.

Basically it seems the fans are a baseless pot... Saying whatever they wish to call out positives for apple..

When the weight is less it becomes the most important thing in the world... When processor is fast in specs thats the only important thing... When the apps are supposedly 5% better that's the only thing in the world... When nothing is better it's the perceived experience that's the only important thing in the world...

When competitions ram is higher specs are useless... When processor is faster only experience matters... When the apps aren't available on ios it is a platform only for select apps and these apps are not good.. When resolution is better that doesn't matter ... Otherwise it is about perceived privacy or security gains...or best

"best user experience"

Hahaha just ignore the thread instead of stalking people... Fanbois

Man your egging aint going to work on me anymore. I have literally tried to engage co-ordinally with you several times despite your shitty attitude. I have respected your opinions and tried to understand them. But you just want to get into a pissing competition every time. Just stop trolling man, you are obviously better than that. You don't need to call someone that uses an apple product a fanboi and demean them. Talk about why alternatives are better, your experiences with them etc. Stop your bullet point agenda that you keep repeating non stop everywhere.

our friend here suffers from apple derangement syndrome. its same as apple fanboi but in opposite fashion.

if you’ve watched the entire video that guy said the same thing. that plug-ins are not working yet and music people should not jump on m1.
it’s because of our deranged friend here that you assumed i am an apple fanboy.
yes i have an m1 but it is because my usecase is different. and i am always curious about new and bleeding edge technologies.

+1 to Y2S post.
I haven't used an Apple product since the iPhone 4s because I found it restrictive, just like you do @msnkadi. However, if I were to post a single good thing I liked about an Apple product, you would label me a fanboi. This is same as what is happening in our country, that if I were to say anything against BJP, I would be labeled a Congressi.
Why do you have to do that? I might not like a lot of things about Apple or it's products but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the good things they offer. Same for Android. Everyone knows, no device, technology is perfect. Everything anyone buys is always a best compromise unless they are very rich and can afford to buy different products for every different use. And even then there is still no perfection as what one would want/need might not have been invented till now.

Now, in any thread about any product, whether Apple or any other manufacturer, why can't we just have a civil discussion about the pros and cons of that product, without getting personal. And if you believe that someone else is fanboying and getting personal, then the answer is not to engage him and give him a taste of his own medicine. That only leads to further escalation instead of diffusion of the situation. If someone is fanboying, then just ask them the pertinent questions which require logical replies and everyone will see that the other person's replies aren't logical.

To the point!

The guy is throwing opinions as facts. I have used Windows for 15 years, Android for 8 years including flashing stuff from XDA, MacOS for 3 years and iOS for 2 years. I have gained all perspectives of all sides with their pros and cons. But this guy is full of air it seems, whenever I throw something technical he can't hold the discussion and comes back to name calling like kids.

Back to topic though. Most of these apple products are really geared towards an audience without a tech background. I fully agree the products are very restrictive. It makes absolutely zero sense to buy these if you are not already in the apple ecosystem .

I predict the cheap chinese knockoff version of these will do very well considering this item has become a status symbol of sorts. I’ll definitely be giving them a pass.
