Xiaomi has launched Mi TV Q1 75" - QLED, 192 Zones, 120Hz

Rtings is based in Montreal, Canada and they only review the products available in North America.

The reality is that you will never know. Most YT India reviewers will simply provide subjective statements as they don't have the equipment or knowledge to test the panel. I remember few calling the OnePlus panel as mind-blowing when in fact it was an old entry-level Samsung panel. Most of them are paid to endorse, so these products will always get 4-5 out of 5 in all Indian reviews.

To be fair, Mi hasn't been using the best panels for its TVs. The use of misleading marketing terms such as "120 Hz" when it is using MEMC to achieve the same and 10-bit colour depth when it in fact using 8-bit+FRC are meant to make it look better than it is. Wouldn't be surprised if the "upto 1000 nits" is also in an impractical setting.

It simply indicates that it is not a top-end panel since even mid-range Samsung TVs have true 10-bit, 120 Hz support. Also, at the end of the day, Sony, Samsung, LG have also built up software expertise over several years that allows them to deal much better with upscaling and motion smoothing while nearly all Chinese TVs mess up. But yeah, this is intended for people who will go for the size.
Have you checked out the mysmartprice review posted here? He checked the peak brightness and it was 800 nits, I'm not saying it's the best thing ever. Their old panels are just bad but this one seems to be legitimately a newer and better one.

And those Samsung ones you're saying with 10bit panels, do they have wider color gamut support than this one? The 8 bit+FRC could be same as 10bit depending on how good it is implemented.

I agree with the 120hz, this TV isn't for gaming.

Again quoting from the review you shared
"Contrast levels are excellent and the black levels are particularly great thanks to that full array dimming. I’m partial to OLED panels, but the Mi TV pulled its weight with aplomb"
I talked about whites & colors being washed out as mentioned in the C4E review. You are quoting text talking about contrast & blacks. Also picture quality "CAN" be good if the display is calibrated. Maybe a lot of readers of this forum will spend time calibrating their display. Most buyers will not. Also, pulling its weight in regards to blacks does not imply its better.

Exactly! You say to buy another product yet provide no reasoning/comparison for the same
As mentioned - They lied on their spec sheet about being 10bit. They lied about their peak brightness. They lied about their supported refresh rate. Reviews I have linked here mention a glitchy UI, Failure to play 4K input, Washed out colors, Whites being off. What am I missing? Just because its cheap does not mean its good! Good for the price - maybe! Spec sheets alone do not make a good product

And I'm arguing for argument's sake? While you twist your own words and go from arguing for bad panel/picture quality to bad gaming/software Or is it only gaming quality and software interface that counts as a good panel for you?
I said the article furthers my statement of this TV being underwhelming - In addition to not having great picture quality, it also has bad hardware / software and does not even support the specs it lists in its marketing. I would further have doubt on its build quality & long term reliability. Not sure where I am twisting my words. In fact I would reiterate what I have said previously. Buy if you want a cheap big TV - stay away if you care about quality and usability. Don't trust the marketing mumbo jumbo.

Edit: I would also like to add that 192 dimming zones (FALD) is around 14 blocks across. This is not enough dimming zones to handle quality contrast, and you will most likely end up with dark zones or bad halos around brights. Oleds have infinitely more at 8,294,400 pixels (Each pixel is its own Dimming Zones) on a 4k panel

Can we get back on topic and discuss the actual TV instead. No point arguing over a TV none of us has actually seen
But then, no one is going to see the actual TV anytime soon. And if someone posts his/her opinion about the TV from seeing and reading other reviews, then others come in and tell him to shut up.
I don't know what has happened and why can't people be civil when discussing these things, even when your opinion differs.
So what if someone found the TV, not to their liking, after watching a few reviews. Aren't we here for these different opinions. Why do people feel the need to start pointing fingers and calling names.

Frankly, I find @y2s reasoning good enough for what he is saying. He is simply saying that he gives more preference to PQ than size. Also others who said that this is a fantastic TV for it's price and size are equally correct as well and even I, personally, would buy this TV, as even, I give more importance to real-estate than the PQ. But I don't feel the need to bash him just because he gives more preference to the PQ and I clearly agree with him in that regard that an LG OLED TV costing in the same range will have much better picture quality.

we have a 65 mi tv at home and everybody just love the screen estate on that thing for the price we got. 55k. i agree i don't like colors on that panel and contrast sucks. but for the price we paid and for the size it offers it's a 9/10 for me. i'm sure this QLED panel on an even bigger 75" should be awesome. my parents don't care (or rather don't know) about pq and if this was available then, would have certainly went for this model. obviously someone who's very particular on image quality should go for one from the main 3 brands shelling out at least 2x (or 3x or 4x??) the moolah. however xiaomi should be called out for marketing it as 4k 120hz when it is not.

Related but unrelated. I hate MI TV remotes because they are first of all bluetooth or something and they don't have mute button.

I have Mitv at home but I prefer firestick but I cannot configure the firestick remote to work with tv functions like volume increase decrease, mute etc.
I have to use 2 remotes.

I have never used a mi tv but below is what I found on this products fk page..

Mi quick mute: double tap volume button to mute

I haven't been derogatory to you and if I've been, then I am extremely sorry for that, as all I wanted was that this thread doesn't turn into a battlefield like so many other threads have lately.
So can you answer this for me.

I have no bias against Xiaomi or any other brand. In fact, I would probably end up buying this TV, but my Plasma has spoiled me over the years. Following Hifivisions recommendations, even I was considering picking up Toshiba's 7980/8080. But don't you think that such misleading specs by the company also makes this TV a somewhat dubious choice. Who knows what all other things they have lied about. Yes, it offers amazing real estate for the price, but wouldn't I be better off buying an LG OLED by putting in a little extra as LG have a much better track record than MI at this.
Forgive me too if came in as rude before. It was never about LG OLED Vs this TV and you were trying to turn it in to that saying he said that while it was fenix who said to get the OLED and not him and i was only talking against his comment, not anyone else. He kept favouring only Samsung/Sony/LG with no models mentioned but a blank statement saying you can't compare it to any of these three brands.

Now to your query, I couldn't find Mi stating it as 10bit panel anywhere in Indian website so I checked it in the global site and it's clearly written 8bit+FRC. And coming to the 4k 120hz that's just marketing, if you see their disclaimer they clearly state this "The Mi QLED TV 75 does not support 4K video streaming at 120fps decoding (input) due to
hardware limitations. The TV can decode upto 1080p at 120fps and 4K at 60fps natively. The TV
will upscale the input source to output 120fps using Reality Flow 120(MEMC) to match native
refresh rate of the panel"

They even say the same in their FAQ.
So they can't be blamed for that. I'm attaching screenshots for all these statements so you can check for yourself.

And technically they don't mention brightness in Indian site like they do in their global site but if you've been following hifivision you'd know many people mention 800nits brightness which is not advertised 1000nits but we need more accurate testing before we can finalize it's true brightness but for now we know it's 800 nits which is actually good. It's not like they're putting HDR and only 400nits which is bare minimum and useless for HDR like many other TVs are advertising, even their own 55 inch has bad brightness. Is it less? yes! but is it to the point you can't watch it out enjoy it like those "top brands TVs" No! It's on par if not better depending on which models you compare it to from the top brands. Do check there, someone posted a picture of the TV in their room near the windows and it's plenty bright in that room.

And finally OLEDs, if you want the best then you'll be better off with the OLED but is it miles better? I can't say that for sure because I've seen OLED in my friend's and haven't checked out this TV yet but from the technical specs I'd say it's not worth the price difference if you're planning 65/75 oleds. For 55 inch LG OLED against this one? Definitely the 55 inch. But at that point it's only fair to compete it against a 55 inch like Toshiba U7980 which is like 47k and LG is like 120k+. That's another discussion. Do ask your questions there, there are many who know much more than me in that forum who can help you with these doubts.

@msankadi

Just an update, the double click volume down on my Mi TV remote did not work for muting the tv. Unfortunately at the time when I got this, Onida fire tv edition wasn't available else would have bought that instead.

@rdst_1 after reading many French/German reviews this TV is only a little better than the Q60T so it's not the Toshiba u8080 replacement. Seeing that u8080 may not launch ever, this one's a good compromise but q70t 65 inch for 40k extra is a good choice too. TCL is bringing in new TVs soon but they'll mostly be way more expensive.

Thanks for doing the research for us. I just love big size TVs so maybe I'll still buy it, but not before auditioning it and that's not gonna happen anytime soon. I don't mind compromising with PQ for the real estate but it should play movies and sports without any tearing. That's the main point of contention for me.

It's actually pretty solid once color corrected but needs equipment for the same. Its only like that for SDR, for HDR it's very good and covers 94% DCI P3 so it beats everything in its range and some more costly ones too. I'll wait for TCL then decide later on as currently there's not enough space for a 75 inch.

Checkout this review with chrome auto translate, it explains more clearly.

Review from one of the users who has actually bought and using the product

I got my unit too. Took 6 hours to calibrate this thing. This thing is phenomenal. I am getting inky blacks, very very wide bt.2020 colors and insanely bright tv on hdr 10+ ( eye burning) Attaching pics for the same. Only issue I find is that most 4k videos is stuttering. ( Very sad)
I got 931 nits max brightness on 9 percent window ( bt.2020 and dark gamma with local dimming turned on)

For me it was a simple no when it said no VRR support with HDMI 2.1, that is a big bummer when playing games using HDMI 2.1 via consoles. Its a must for me and waiting to see this Diwali if the LG OLED are offered at a better pricing.

Ah so I am not alone in experiencing this. Also a fully charged battery seems to drain away in just few days. Have kept the fire TV remote aside and managing with TV remote in CEC mode.

I do recollect reading somewhere it was explained how to reset the remote (you have to press some buttons in a specific order) and that helps with battery drain issues.
Use the phone app. Its best.

True that but not everyone likes to use a screen to control the TV and would like tactile feedback. This is personal opinion as I am one of those.

Unrelated but I sold my 32 Inch Mi Tv and now once amazon starts delivering TVs in my city, I will get the Onida 32 Inch Fire TV Edition. I already have the 43 Inch one and am satisfied with it.
