Apple announces lossless Apple Music is coming in June at no added cost

I tried Audionirvana Studio just a few days back but unable to understand the hype behind it and hence removed it within a day from my Mac. It does mess with the way audio is delivered though and also sounds different from the native Qobuz client.

Audirvana used to be just a PCM/ DSD player years ago for Mac ( the core player). Now they have incorporated all the newer things (podcasts, streaming etc.)
There must have been some settings turned/off on accidentally.
It was a very transparent audio player. The dashboard gives you not only the computer settings but also every stage through which the signal is passed in a very transparent manner.
I've not tried it M1 machines, but it was a fantastic audio player even in 2019 ( never updated anything in my iMac for 2/3 years now and not sure if the changed anything in the newer versions) Tidal sounds perfectly fine with it!!
Did you go through all the settings throughly? Was it somehow upsampling 24/48 files to 24/96 or higher?

can you name a few. i am really trying to understand how they use bandwidth and their caching strategy.
Tidal can be used with KEF stream app to KEF LSX. Now even Tidal connect should work directly.
Naim MuSo also should work. Some Sonos..
I don't know anything about about bandwidth or cache strategy or other technical stuff, but they sound considerably better than Spotify in the same wifi network.
Tidal connect 100 perfectly works with LSX ( have that in our kitchen) Oh yea!! Even the useless Dali system also works with Tidal connect (but it makes the whole house rattle..)

Wow!! So many!! But those are not all wireless.
Sorry for the typos...I'm in a moving bus.

From my experience tidal is miles faster than apple music. Right now I have tidal, Amazon music and apple music. Apple music takes some time to load playlists, albums, tracks while the other two are very fast.
Spotify is easily the fastest of the lot on both android and iOS - saying this just to establish a baseline for comparison.

Apple music is pretty snappy too though not as quick as Spotify.
- not sure if you are using it on Android though.
AFAIK, the AM app on android is not very good - so bad on Apple for that
Tidal can be used with KEF steam app to KEF LSX.

I used to use Tidal in three ways for lossless streaming
Wireless:
Tidal on Denon HEOS app-> X3600 as pre-amp -> Marantz PM17 as PA -> Focal Aria 926 speakers
Tidal on DTS Play-fi in Hi Res mode-> Paradigm PW Link as pre-amp -> Crown XLS2502 as PA -> KEF Q350 speakers

Wired:
Tidal app on apple TV -> Marantz SR6010 via HDMI 2.1 -> KEF iQ5 speakers

While the SQ was noticeably better than Spotify / AM , it was far from convenient to use
I am hoping that the AM upgrade solves for that gap - need to spend time over the weekend to sort it out

PS: Note the use of the word noticeably instead of considerably
It did sound better - if you paid attention
Considerably better OTOH= perceptibly better even if it is background playback while you go about your daily business

So no wireless headphones?

^^ Nah...tried many...given up.
Yes, noticeable is the word!! But these systems ( Sonos, KEF, Dali etc.) are nowhere close to real monitors despite the hype and pricings.
After using Barefoot and S2V ( no!! I didn't buy the second one, but heard it many times) nothing really blows me away. Haven't heard the Genelec "The One" though.

Ya it's Android, I wanted to try out lossless so got apple music trial but it's so slow. Then used VPN and got tidal trial for 2$. As long as they don't increase price and keep it at 99rs for lossless I can forget the slow interface.

With this lossless thing Apple did one good thing.
99 percent people didn't care/ know about lossless music. They were perfectly fine with crappy Bluetooth headphones.
Now everyone is interested!!
Funny thing, the same people who got offended after being told airpod Max sounds nothing special are now after wired headphones, dongles etc.
Ab to samajh me aya achhi audio kya hota hai? Aur Apple se kuch log kiun pareshan ho gaya hai?

What about Apples logic lol, they removed the headphone jack to push their overpriced wireless headphones/earphones and now want to give lossless to the same people who don't have any gear to utilize it. Had they instead given better dacs like LG did, that would've pushed to do some changes from them and other companies to give some good headphones/earphones instead other companies wanted to cash in on this wireless trend. I'm not hating wireless or even apple for that matter, I feel headphone jacks were pulled too soon before wireless audio can mature and turn equal to wired.

Does anyone have any idea why India still hasn't got this update? Usually software updates are just 1-2 days late compared to U.S. Is something else going on? Looks like no one even knows a date.

They wanted to outdo Spotify which they did by launching Hi-Fi full 6 months ahead of them and that to for free, hadn't Spotify announced H-Fi tier..

My wife uses iphone ( just ip12 not pro and received the update about a week ago ( we are not in India and she doesn't care about high res audio)
Haven't upgraded the XR I have ( will do today)
However tried it in her phone with a Q3 ( guess it maxes out at 32/768...sort of overkill as 24/48 is more than enough, any higher just increases the noise floor...seen it MANY times while working when client wanted higher)
Some songs from Steely Dan, Genesis sounds wonderful. Beatles earlier works sound like rubbish ( despite claims about how great they sound...the panning of the vocals..simply outrageous)
But most importantly Tidal is no worse than Apple ( in fact some music sounds better) Works with lot of old hardware with zero fuss.
Apple has not started upsampling older masters...that's the real challenge. I'm not interested in spatial audio at all.
AFAIK I'm aware of only two Softwares champion in upsampling ( Sequoia and Pyramix) both ( at least Sequoia) works in Windows only. Would love to know what will Apple use for upsampling ( I have full faith in Apple when it comes to their Mac OS software, if they release it even as a very expensive Logic plug in, will get back to them in heartbeat and happily live with dongle hell)

My guess is that they need more time to work on label contracts. India had certain labels which are mainly only for the Hindi catalog. Thats the same reason why it took time for spotify to increase their Hindi song catalog.

Hahaha is this sarcasm? Dude, then this topic should be deleted from Indian forum like TE as Apple has just hyped the product and it is still unavailable in India, so none of the Indian users have tried it
Why should the topic be deleted? The topic is about a news announcement, not about the review of a product. As far as I remember, Apple didn't give any solid launch date for India and I am not sure what your definition of hype is.
For trying out apple music, yes i tried it and dumped it because of the pathetic app on android. I have again taken a subscription to compare its hifi with tidal but alas, apple is just hype, they havent even been able to provide the service in india yet and have put out marketing articles in indian newspapers. Still as I highlighted earlier too, you can go to the below thread to see how the quality of apple lossless music sucks.

Every person will have an opinion. You cannot just cherry-pick 1 or 2 that suits your purpose and post it here.
First of all, you wrote in your post that 20 usd per month and vpn is required for tidal. Now you conveniently forgot about your ignorance. How is it better? Because TIDAL actually has lossless available right now in India. Plus, its apps on Android and Windows are much much better. You can look at the 3.7 rated apple music app on android with 400k+ reviews, it is total shit.
Also, Tidal can be had for 88 rupees per month, and no I am not talking about a family plan. According to your logic now, Tidal is better. As 88 < 99.
Instead of throwing random numbers, how would it be if you can actually point to the link where I can get it for ₹88? I visited the official Tidal website, neither India is listed as a supported country and nor the ₹88 price is mentioned anywhere.
Did you just type it incorrectly? Or do you not know what vpn is or what is it used for?
I didn't knew that VPN is used for signing up for apps. All apps I use can be signed up without VPN.
What universally available product? Half or more of the features of apple's wireless products dont work with android. If anything, apple is a niche product as sony headphones work universally across the different OSes.
Read the statement again. I was referring to a proprietary technology which is only available in a few headsets. Stop generalising and dragging Sony as a whole company.
Android has captured more than 60% market share.
Android is not a single company for god's sake. Understand the difference between a single company and an OS used by multiple companies. Both are different things that cannot be compared.
Then you havent read my complete post history. Please go ahead and check out my rants on trying to get apple tv to work, ipad limitations, iphone slowness, apple delibrately slowing down my wife's iphone etc. Not to mention pathetic support services apple has in India which unfortunately I had to go through
Your post history also contains threatening physical violence to another forum member who disagreed with you. I am not even going to touch your post history.

The Apple music app on Android is clunky. I don't know why them even bothered to release a half-baked app on Android when they clearly don't care about android users. Hope they fix this given more people are going to use this now.

Nah!! Most people who care about high quality music already have their high res stuff offline.
For music discovery you don't need high res. As mainstream music doesn't sound different between lossless and lossy ( as most are using max 24 bit samples anyways and everything sounds same...Oaksound Smoothie is their latest darling and it's obvious in Pop charts)
People who genuinely are passionate about music don't care much about Apple music/ Tidal...or any streaming service for the matter.
This lossless craze will die down in few months ( most people don't use good enough headphones and simply don't care) and people will go back to their crappy wireless headphones for convenience.

BTW, what's so wrong with threat of physical attack? It's so much better than abusing family members. I have lot more respect for people who attacks physically...man to man ( definitely not for something as stupid as Apple vs Windows/ Android) compared to people who dig out 10 year old pictures of your partner in some beach and post them online.
If somebody has any problem with my POV in something and needs to settle the score (where logical arguments failed from either or both end) physical confrontation is the most decent way to do it. Being in shape is lot more important than appearing smartass behind the keyboards. Sure, I won't attack someone if from other sex, lot smaller (most people are fortunately) than me or carrying weapons.
This is the major problem of gym going generation, they will threat you with their bulging muscles but can't even last 10 seconds in a choakhold..can't even take one blow in their bulging chests. People in 20s can't defend against a 40 plus old man, even in arm wrestling!! Lock in for 30 seconds, they will just give up..Come on man!! You MUST be strong enough to protect your families.

I strongly believe this is only for Indian Pricing for Apple Music - If not then, there is no competition for India for Lossless...So why bother.
