Modular switches for home that last long

I've been using Anchor Roma models for few years. They are very good but still not the "lasts long" type always. Switches didn't fail, lasted at least 2 years. Spring in sockets become loose maybe in 1.5 to 2 years if used extensively. For the price we pay, these are very good. The main reason I like them is, it's available everywhere.
But fan regulators of Roma are crap. They don't fail often, but the speed regulation failed in few months.

I have Anchor Roma in my house for about 10 years. Only one power plug socket has been damaged over the years, that too due to using blower in it. But its fan regulator is very bad, after few months it works either on full speed or on lowest speed. Because of this, local retailers stopped selling them. Have to buy online every time.

2nd floor have RR kabel since about 4 years, switches are good but sockets are very bad if you have 2 pin plug it is very difficult to insert.

I will suggest you to check different shops in different locations in your city to find which brand/model commonly available.

Based on these issues I shall recommend further specific models of items even if people buy Goldmedal nixon modular switches

1. Fan regulator : Goldmedal Nixon "Galaxy knob regulator 5 speed full rotary"
This fan regulator comes with a flat type knob which is tough to pull out and tough to break. And very importantly, it allows for proper fan speed control 0->5->4->3->2->1->0 (this is the way fan speeds should be operated) which gives good amps to fan motor hence protecting fans from underload motor damage.

2. Socket 6A: 5 pin model (this has slanting safety shutters which can be used with two-pin device easily as well)

3. Socket 25A: for blower as blowers are rated 2000w (which is 220V 10Amp) but can go easily up to 3000W (Many OFRs are more watts) hence 25Amp socket with 20Amp switch recommended.

@sato1986 would you also recommend Gold Medal as the best for modular MCBs or would Schneider be a better choice for a 16a or 20a modular MCB
MCBs: Keep note to put ELCB on mains (Eg: ELCB 4POLE 100A) And ensure the load current matches the MCB rating.
Brand in MCB: Schneider, L&T are the best as on date.

Modular switches
1. Goldmedal Nixon (Silver/Titanium Grey)
2. Schneider Zencelo (Grey)

Yes ELCB is already there on mains.
Any particular model of Schneider or L&T...the minitiature MCB for concealed wiring ?

Sorry to revive this old thread.
I need to replace a 16amp switch and fan regulator now. Presently all default ones in home are Anchor Roma. If I have to change the 16a switch from Roma to goldmedal Nixon (or fan regulator) do I have to change the whole plate or just the switch is enough? I'm thinking these designs are not universal or standard.

Any inputs @sato1986 ?

hi @Ssreek . You are right. These designs are not universal and if you want to switch;) the switch, you will have to make a big switch to goldmedal by changing the entire plate and all its switches/sockets.

And always remmeber, the fan regulator should have option of going from speed 0-5-4-3-2-1-0. Since 0-1-2-3 puts bad load on motor of fan and also spoils the regulator.
So such regulators which are also known as full rotary are usually available in Goldmedal AFAIK.
16A switch these days isn't enough. You should for 20Amp switch instead with indicator.

Above is the list of Goldmedal fan reguators.
Please note FULL ROTARY is recommended only.

Seller is probably telling you something with that particular % of discount.
