Audio Random IEM / Headphone Rants

899 SGD at just about any of the audio shows and 999 SGD at full retail. If you're here for Canjam and claim your GST refund at the airport it would be around 835 SGD a bit lower than US retail at current exchange rates.

Audio Portable audio rig for basshead

The SE215 has a slightly muddy feel to it, I don't like it. There might not be a need for a AMP/DAC, if you just get a DAP that functions as a USB DAC, so that way your budget is split between only 2 items.

Their IEMs have always given me issues. 4 x RE1s I think and my RE600, I sold my RE400 here but the buyer ran into issues a few months later. Haven't bought a Head-Direct/Hifiman IEM since. Their headphones however seem to be a lot better, I've never had an issue with them thus far. Just got...

    Audio help in choosing PMP

Haven't used the GR07 but have owned both the RE400 and RE600. They both sound great and can be driven easily. The RE600 scales well with better gear if you upgrade in the future. Build quality however isn't great, both mine had issues but there are also a lot of people who have had trouble free...

    Audio help in choosing PMP

I'd stick with the iPhone, ditch the E6 amp and maybe get a better IEM that can be driven without an amp. I think you'd see a much better improvement, I don't see the S4 scaling with better equipment to justify investing in the X1. I think there's a lot of people who will insist that iDevices...

Audio Random IEM / Headphone Rants

Haha, you should head down to the Adelphi man. Much better stuff to try out. Jaben and AVOne which is the shop that shares a wall with Jaben have pretty much everything you could ever want to try between the two of them. The Abyss and Orpheus included! Will put the A1, an assortment of...

Audio GR07 vs HIFIMAN RE-400 vs Shure SE215 vs Astrotec AX35 vs Brainwavz R3 vs GR06

The SE215 is a pretty poor sounding iem if you ask me, especially given its high price. Save some cash and get the VSD3 perhaps....detachable cables, decent sound for under 3000 inr.

There she is! Been using them for a week now, loving the sound, the only thing I could want more from these was the mids from my old rev2. Overall I'd still pick the Fazor over them though. Getting a cheap 2.5mm balanced cable soon, the stock one is great but heavy and requires the adapter to be...

Audio Vote for the best (RE 600, IE80, FX850)

So the list is to gauge interest on what people would buy should you not like it? Haven't voted, but I think the RE-600 would suit the "smooth highs and sweet mids" criteria best. Be prepared to deal with questionable build quality and possibly having to RMA a couple of times. Also, with the...

Audio Random IEM / Headphone Rants

The upgrade bug is back unfortunately and I've already sold my CIEMs. It's quite clear to me that IEMs/CIEMs just cant match full sized headphones (even on mediocre setups) when it comes to imaging and a more engaging experience. I'm quite happy with RE-600 for everyday use while travelling, I...

Audio Random IEM / Headphone Rants

I can hear the right driver on the RE600 crackle and pop at random. Its been barely a month with them. I babied them too, in Pelican case when not in use. Never got the cables tangled, never dropped them! I got some father practice in earlier than expected. No luck with Hifiman IEMs!!

Audio Amp Suggestions for AKG K7XX

I've heard the 701 a long time ago, very briefly with a ALO Pan Am and Mullard tubes. Sounded quite good off the built in DAC, think they go new for about 400 even less used on head-fi. The amp is also a great match for the LCD2 if you ever get a pair :) I think there might be better and...

Audio On the lookout for a universal IEM

The X1 looks great for the price. I'm now thinking of getting either the clip or something with a similar for factor. Since I'm already carrying a phone and a wallet :| For balanced use I think the A1 would work. ALO and RSA amps used to work with the 262 without the adapter I think. Will know...

Audio On the lookout for a universal IEM

Any suggestions for an inexpensive DAP. Needs to be small and inexpensive. Primarily to drive these RE600s. Screen would be nice, but FLAC support is a must. For those days I don't carry a back pack around. The A1 and AK100 combo is bit large and too expensive to carry around unprotected...

Audio On the lookout for a universal IEM

I'm on the lookout for something similar too. The RE600 is better in every way but I can't get over those slightly coloured liquid mids on the RE1. Will keep you posted.
