Hey
Today it seems my isp reset it's network or may be it was something that my son did..
My chromecast tv device has lost wifi and whenever I am trying to go to settings and hit wifi it freezes and goes back to home screen..
Also I am unable to reset it via settings as I can't access them just display settings that's all all tb3 rest the I can't go to
It boots up fine and shows home screen, all the apps are visible and accessible but s there is no network hence none of them works..

Tried resetting via physical button as well many time but that fails too while erasing with an error.

Any ideas guys

Thanks

Switch off your router and switch it on after a couple of minutes if you have already not done that.

I have done that once, will do it once more.

No success, it still behaves same.. Wifi disabled and when you click wifi settings the screen goes blank
Anymore suggestions guys???
Would really appreciate some more help guys
Thanks
EDIT - 14/7/24

Right so, I was able yo boot into recovery and tried factory resetting from there but it failed as well..
Anyone having any clue how this can be fixed..
Attaching a screenshot of what the errors are...
Just like the old rim flashing days on phones when one had to wipe everything and install the os a fresh to fix write errors

If anyone has any experience with chromecast witj Google tv the do share your opinion.. About how this can be revived.
Its booting up fine but just reduced to go to the WiFi menu, if at all it reaches there, it isn't able to turn on the wifi..

I have tried all. Methods of factory reset, it's it letting it to be completed, shied an error with a lying android

if it's still in warranty then try calling google's service center, they will most likely replace it

Out of warrnaty
Had been in communication with Google escalation team they simply said out of warranty so can't be replaced and can't be fixed either.

I have a CGTV for 2 years and never faced an issue but was able to replicate this once when other HDMI cables were close to it. There is a long discussion on this but the CGTV has poor shielding which first impacts the wireless signals. Hence it is a good practice to keep it a bit isolated from other wireless and HDMI devices.

No there is just one hdmi cable out if my tv which goes to the soundbar so that wasn't the issue..
The issue arose one fine day when the ISP resettled their equipments and the net was down for several hours..
Google simply said it's a hardware issue and as warranty is over, use it as paperweight.. I had even asked them if I could push the os via adb but they refused to share os files as well.

So after days of knocking tgis and that door for no avail something I had read somewhere prompted me what if I try and connect the ccwgtv with ethernet somehow..
So I researched and bought a usb c hub with ethernet port and option for fast charging (it has a hmi port and 2 usb ports as well)

Connected the ethernet cable, gave power to it via chromecast adaptor itself and the usb c power out put to the chromecast..

Viola the Internet came back and subsequently deleted all WiFi accounts and added them a fresh... The wifi couldn't connect while the ethernet was connected ( I got a bit disappointed at the time) but as soon as I removed the usb c hub the wifi came back to the chromecast and it's working now..

Surprisingly Google support didn't have a freaking clue about how this could be sorted simply by the ethernet adaptor.. When infact I just found out that Google sells the ethernet adaptor as well for the chromecast..

Used this one

One thing I would say, all this was worth the effort really..
The interface of gccwgtv is pretty good and pretty fluid.. The remote works great without lag.. And loading time of the os as well as the launching of the apps is also pretty fast compared to firesticks...

I was really missing using it even though I just get may be a hour to watch something in a day..

Just to share something more..
I found another usb c hub this time from zebronics.. Which is pretty cheap compared to other brands..

ZEBRONICS 6 in 1 USB Type C Multiport Adapter Zeb TA1000UCL with USB, SD, Micro SD, RJ45 Slots https://amzn.in/d/1sOBSf8

Current price is 769/-

Can’t see a power input here. How did you supply power to your chromecast?
Though I didn't use this particular model, but the one from portronics and this is how I used it...

The portronics one that I used (shared a few posts before) I just used chromecast charger and connected it to the usb c input of the hub and connected the usc c output (that's the one with small wire at the end) with the chromecast and viola

This supplied the internet as well as power to chromecast.

Edit

I just noticed that the zebronics doesn't seem to be having a usb c in.. So seems this might not prove that helpful unless it can be connected to the usb 3.0 port of a pc to draw enough current may be
Better buy the portronics one as its cheaper than zebronics at the moment and works like a charm

So, it can’t be used with Chromecast. This hub has no USBC input.

Unfortunately yes. I just noticed after your reply..
I have edited my last reply and shared link for the one that I used and in fact at this moment the portronics one is lot cheaper than the zebronics one

Surprisingly, no brands tend to offer any help for FREE as the world has lost something called as humanity so help is a distant dream in such oow scenarios!

I stumbled upon this thread just today only and was going to suggest the ethernet and usb c thing but you already tried that and it worked. Kudos!

Tell google that you have found a great solution which can help save their device from turning into a paperweight and ask for a ransom!

Yep told them I was able to fix after we had exchanged like 20 messages in the chat..
They didn't even ask how I did it ans I didn't tell either.

Nope, never ever offer your free solution to such morons. Let them struggle and loot around. Its your efforts and struggle and the battle won single-handedly!
Better have a chat and say you can teach them how to do it for a minor fee and watch those replies;)
