Linksys LN1301 - Group Buy from US

If you are planning for mikrotik, then consider this model too as you dont need WIFI, https://mikrotik.com/product/hex_2024

It has ARM processor.

This is really cool, I wish they refreshed the hex s too.

Looks like the new hex refresh is already available in India - https://fgtechstore.com/product/mikrotik-e50ug-the-classic-hex-refresh/

Doesnt RouterOS has a difficult learning curve ?

It's a bit different, yes, but once you get familiarised a bit, it is pretty straight forward. I think its worth a try.

i purchased BSNL WIMAX device which i still have . They were those proprietary Mikrotik devices - MikroTik SXTsq Lite5
One tab was Google and youtube to check and another tab was the router admin page . BSNL that time was as shit as now so any chnage was a task in itself
So not inclined for Router OS

Consider me a noob in this, why would you want to get this over the wirless? (Apart from openwrt and wired being more reliable and faster)
People go for seperate boxes for each service instead of All in1 Fibre modem which also does routing and WiFi . It gives them better control like VLAN , DHCP reservation with rules , firewalls
Everytime all these All in 1 devices are always shitty and underperfrom in all services . They are fine for normal user who wont come to know but for a power user or anyone running a homelab differentiation in servies is must
You would start with a good FTTH modem/ONT then a decent router to dial PPPOE , handle routing with VLANs , link aggregation , DUAL WAN etc . Your router could also be a server for running /openwrt / pfsense /docker / Adguard etc (no 8 port router costs less than 12k so one gets 4/5 port router - add a switch , 12/24 port switch which shares your wired conenction , Switch could be unmanaged or managed ( L1/L2/L3) . Again managed could run VLAN etc which costs over 15k - Now most important segement WIFI routers/AP , All those go for above setup use their Wifi routers as dumb AP and utilize them for what they build for - In between you also add a LINUX server which runs all your services like ADGUARD / DOCKER / PLEX/ JELLYFIN / Home Assistant etc - control all IOT

Above all improves thorughtput , reliability , control , security and peace of mind
Thats the best layman expanation i could give being myself a layman in this

Basically all the above are kinks of bored people who can spend moolah on all this and then spend more to have the latest tech , spend sleepless nights to configure them , prowl techenclave/reddit after midnight to share ideas and ask queries etc . :p:p;)

Finally got my package delivery today from ibhejo. Unboxing is done. Now to set these up.
External Usb storage connected and working with the router.

Interesting. Everyone was saying the USB port wasn't functional. I was using it to power my RPI, but it's good to know it works for storage as well.
I am not using LN1301, but MX4200C which is another version of it sold by Costco. This comes with default firmware in which everything works out of the box, no need to tinker around with anything. Setup was pretty easy too. Connected the first one via ethernet to my airtel router, then used the Linksys app and set it up , connected node to the first one via ethernet and everything was completed via app. Then just removed the node assigned static ip to both on airtel router and moved the first one to bridge mode. Now both are working fine as Access point in wired backhaul forming a mesh and are directly connected to the airtel router via ethernet backhaul . Also in Bridge mode the USB option does not work and interface and acess is limited.

MX 4200 or MX 4200 C are same , both are v1 with 512MB RAM . V2 has 1GB RAM
Exact same as LN1301 except RAM , which as 2GB

If the internals are exactly the same with the only difference being the RAM, then I'm surprised no one has reported trying the MX4200 firmware on the LN1301.

Sharng the link for firmware :

Version 1.0 is what i have details below.

Ver. 1.0.13.210200

Latest Date: 09/14/2022

Download 36.1 MB

Release notes for details :

Also post all my research, the most stable firmware with positive feedback is V1.04 incase you face issues. Downgrade to that and it works great. Plenty of feedbacks from users still using this 1.04 one .
Firmware version: v1.0.4.203508
Release date: December 10, 2020

Only downside is this does not support apple home kit and may not have all the latest fixes.
I am still on the 1.0.13 not faced any issues till now running it in bridge mode .
Did lot of research, hence sharing the same. Will always recommend to backup your existing firmware before making any changes or trying different firmwares, so you do not brick your router.

Stock firmware is different in that, for this, it does not allow usage of the USB3 slot unless I am mistaken.
yes doesnt work on Fortnite firmware . probably works on ISP firmware

Apple Homekit fimrware blocked seperate band for itself thus screwing up all other devices .

You missed one important part:
Also spend hours trying to debug the issues when their devices show Connected, No Internet and family members call you in the middle of the office hours saying internet isn't working!

yup yup, while openwrt is feature rich, the current snapshot release is really not stable. 24.10, the next stable release is atleast a few months away if not more
