Dude, i am using an External USB-HD...Sorry, if i forgot to mention it earlier....Can it be an issue related to casing... i mean a bad casing resulting in a faulty HDD.... What astonishes me is that when i copied data from the corrupted partition to the other partition, the 'i-am-a-good-boy'...

Hey, Have a 80GB hitach External HD....today i noticed that most of the files in one of the partition were renamed...renamed to some wierd charecters....there were boxes, there were arrows, all kinds of ancient egyptian charecters :) .... all the movie files were renamed...windows could not...
