    First and foremost of all, don't get Intel motherboards or you won't be able to overclock. Abit IP35-E + Q9300 would hit your hard limit and be best bang for that.

    Yeah, If you really want it for gaming then I would recommend against it. The card is good enough for HD playback only and in gaming the dx10 effects make no sense for such low end solution. See if in your budget you can get one of these mid-low range cards listed in descending order of gaming...

    The air trapped has absolutely nothing to do with the style of putting on the grease but how were the two surfaces lapped. And the line method is always better than pea method for multi-core proccessors.

    +1 Dual channel real life performance is like 2-3% more over single channel. More ram would definitely be better.

    Actually both method leave the excess to spread off the surface, while the next priority to cooling should be that the compound shouldn't pour off cpu to socket. IMO, the line method is the best.
