Suggestions for Gigabit N Router & USB adapter

I want to network two computers to share HDTV content and the pokey BSNL 802.11G router just doesn't cut it. So I want to buy a N router with gigabit switch and two N USB adapters so that I can consistently get over 250 mbps over the wireless network. I could go the Katmandude route and order...

Help in selecting online shops which ship to Dubai

The days of things being cheaper in Singapore and Dubai etc. are pretty much over and you can get almost anything that is mainstream in India at an equivalent or cheaper rate (along with a warranty). I would only go that route for specialized stuff that is not available in India.

    PC Peripherals Ram Query !!

I'd wait it out for Windows 7 (which is already in beta) and match hardware to it's needs rather than upgrade to Vista.

PC Peripherals Need new Keyboard for HTPC

The Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop Keyboard 7000 does have an inbuilt mouse. In the pic, immediately below the grey band with the Microsoft logo you have the "buttons" on the left and the touchpad on the right. I have one and it's very well built; however, it's a little too bulky for...

    Projector -- For Home Entertainement

For the home, you should consider 720P or 1080P projectors. However, I would imagine they are not quite in your budget, but prices have come down considerably in the last few years. I would recommend Panasonic as a brand and I've heard great things about the PT-AX200U in terms of it's...

    best broadband connection

I had Airtel for a couple of years before I moved: great service and reliability. Couldn't get their connection for my new home, so I went with BSNL broadband. After initial teething troubles traced to my own over-sensitive modem and a poor BSNL line, both of which were fixed, I must say BSNL...

'Major cables cut, Internet traffic disrupted' - Anyone facing bandwidth issues?

One more affected BSNL customer in Bangalore. My connection has slowed down to a crawl since last night.

    iphone 3g or ipod 2g

I was in the same dilemma because my current phone was working well for me but I took the plunge and picked up a 16GB Iphone 3G, despite some skepticism. But I'm now extremely happy because the functionality is so done so well: intuitive UI, useful downloadable Apps, Ipod, Browser, WiFi etc...

    CPU/Mobo Where is D945GCLF2 Mobo in Mumbai ? Or Mini-itx Boards ?

Very nicely put. I built a 780G mini-itx based system for the same reasons mentioned by the OP and it was fun, but if I were to do it again, I'd not waste the effort on such an endeavor. The options mentioned above do the same thing and are cheaper and more flexible.

    PC Peripherals URGENT!! Stabilizer/UPS!!

Sorry, didn't see that. I would guess a 800-1000VA or greater would be safer. But I would still recommend a separate UPS rather than a stabilizer as sudden power shut-offs (however graceful) and expensive computer components don't mix well together.

Camcorder Help - DVD or HDD based?

Why don't you get a quality digital camera which, nowadays, comes with a minimum of 640x480 30fps video capability, which is DVD quality? Throw in a 16GB SD card for around 30-40 bucks and you'll get hours of video recording ala a camcorder. Granted you won't get the full gamut of controls of a...

    PC Peripherals URGENT!! Stabilizer/UPS!!

You need a UPS. A stabilizer will give you zero backup; theoretically, it will only avoid your rig being damaged by voltage spikes. If budget is a concern, you should buy a 500-650VA UPS (I think APC makes one for around 2.6K) and connect only your 'puter to it, which should give you 10-15...

    Laptops Laptop with SSD

Typically hard drive, memory and mini-pci bays are accessible by users and replacing the parts in them will not void the warranty. It's only when the whole chassis is dismantled that the warranty is affected. That is why you see a "Warranty Void if removed" sticker seal on one of the chassis...

    has iPhone 3G been Unlocked

To clarify, suppose I pick up a unlocked Iphone from Hong Kong, will it work with an Airtel sim in India? Or will it be restricted to a Hong Kong carrier?

Wats the best way to buy online?

If the taxes go to help the people who don't get to eat twice a day, I'd agree with that. However, all of us know where a lot of it goes.

Japan kicks in 1Gbps net speed

I've been desperately trying to get a 1Mbps Airtel connection at my new home and when I spoke to the local Airtel sales-guy, he told me that they can't do it despite heavy demand because the local corporation fellows haven't given them "road cutting" permission. He also told me that they did put...

PC Peripherals 600 Watt Step Down Transformer

I have used Raksha brand step-down transformers from 500 Watt to 2KW on U.S. electrical/electronics items. They are well made except for the 110V output socket. The plugs are prone to loose contacts so they have to be seated properly. Other than that, no problems and they are still going strong...

Storage Solutions Is it Better To Go For 10k RPM HDD for a faster OS?

People with MLC based SSDs that have come down to "affordable" levels (OCZ brand mainly) are complaining about niggling problems with them. SLC based ones are still in the stratosphere price-wise. I would wait a couple of more months until Intel, Samsung and Toshiba come out with their drives...

Storage Solutions Best Performance HDD! UR Choice PLease!!

I am running a Velociraptor based system and this 10K drive is significantly faster at firing up apps or accessing data than the 7200 RPM drive it replaced. Definitely worth it as a system drive until SSDs come down in price.
