Hi I’m building a new pc. so what’s the best cpu for editing among Intel, amd and mac
Macs are generally better optimized for majority of the tasks including editing. Depending upon your budget, you can look at M5/M4 with atleast a minimum of 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd. Mac Mini is a good start.
Editing what exactly? And what’s your budget? Any specific software(s) that you use?
Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9995WX
With 96 cores & 192 threads, no Intel or Apple CPUs are coming close to its performance. You wanted the best, this is it.
I work in production so let’s try to get more details (also i noticed ur other post regarding Motion graphics) -
Which softwares are you working with ?
What resolution will you be primarily editing on ?
How many layers and types and type of media do you expect to use on average ?
What is your budget ? Since due to the RAM shortage the price aspect is going to be a HUGE determinant to get you an optimal system for your workflow.
I insist that you should kindly mention those details for a more accurate and helpful response. But if you want an easy answer -
TL;DR - Both mac and intel are great for editing. I will discourage you from going for AMD.
with cpu alone pulling around 900w for peak performance, you have got a room heater as well. ![]()
I mostly work on after effects 2k or 1080p timelines with 3d a bit so lemme know
I use a Ryzen 7900 for my 4k workflow (ae + pp + resolve). My bottle neck is RAM and once in a while my gpu.
In fact my CPU usage is very low when working with timelines.
