Logitech’s software updates always break mid-way for me and I end up having to delete and reinstall the software.
- Use the legacy options, not options+. It has a air gapped option as well.
- This smells like an intent to push you towards MX Master4
Check out new mice from keychron. Not only are they cheaper, but they also have better no-nonsense drivers.
I recommended logitech brand in the past. But I personally won’t be buying this $hit anymore. The experience is horrible with mx master 3s.
not aware of this, pls share a link. for me logi works because of the ergonomics and broken down hands. barely anything else is supportive enough at present at a reasonable price.
Where did you get switches replaced? My g604 has double clicking on left mouse click. Asked some guy here he said 1k + courier + switches. Guess it’ll go to 2k. That’s a whole new mouse ![]()
While Logitech’s products are questionable (particularly the previous generation of G series and MX), their service is top notch. I have visited several service outlets over the years. The best experience was getting replacement units right then and there if they had stock, and the “worst” was having to revisit the center at a later date to pick up myself because they didn’t ship. But in no way a terrible experience.
I’ve gotten stuff replaced without box or invoices too.
I still vastly prefer Logi’s mice over anything else I’ve tried- but planned obsolescence seems to be a thing with them- I’m 100% convinced they seriously ‘design’ the failure during R&D. But their service has been fantastic in my experience, and is also partially the reason I stick to them. Especially compared to the brain sandpaper episodes I’ve experienced from MSI, Gigabyte and Asus.
Its a weird combination.
I don’t love the title of the reddit thread since it implies malice. I think we should use a bit of hanlon’s razor here, and only be mad if they refuse to make it right.
With that said, I never liked logitech options+ for my mx peripherals; it always felt a little unreliable. It took my recent purchase of a logitech gaming mouse however, for me to realize how much better I had it than ghub lmfao
My ghub install is currently in a state where it got an update and no longer opens. It just cycles its little loading animation repeatedly.
I think logitech hardware is great, but can’t be bothered to fuck with the software every time it stops working randomly. I hope they can get their act together soon.
These are the switches I bought from Meckeys, they cost ₹90 each if I remember correctly:
Bought 3 of them so that I have a spare.
Most of the repair was done myself. Although I did mess up the soldering of one switch and as a result, damaged a tiny part of the printed circuit, so I took it to a guy in SP Road, Bangalore to get it soldered+PCB fixed - which cost me ~₹500.
So I think the whole repair cost me approximately ₹800.
I hate this love/hate relationship.
Time to look into open source mice haha.
In 1980, Richard Stallman tried to tinker with Xerox 9700 printer, he was denied firmware access, which convinced Stallman of people’s need to be able to freely modify the software they use.
Thought he worked around the concern then, it was the reason for him to start free or opensource s/w movement.
However, till date printers are tough nuts to work with in IT infra with proprietary patented h/w and s/w.
Hope system will find new ways with true and fully open h/w.
