Audio A Balanced IEM Around 1.5K

so it seems that brainwavz is a better option considering the build quality

Not really. I've had the exact opposite experience. I have SoundMagic PL-50 which I love, and are still serving me well for almost 2 yrs now. On the other hand, I've had BrainWavz M3 that broke in just 6 months.

Overall, I'm coming to the opinion that with most Chinese audio products (HiFiMan, SoundMagic, BrainWavz, etc), build quality seems to be hit & miss affair. There's no consistency to speak of.

Actually I had meelec m9 previously which had very good cable quality and if you compare it with pl 11 then it will stand nowhere

But still ... all are Chinese OEM products. Fischer Audio, Brainwavz (M series is mostly Visang), MEElectronics, Xears.

That is why, there are some 'shared' headphones/iems.

Fischer SBA-03 ~= MEE A161 (the tuning might slightly differ. We never know until it's released! Probably Rockit Sounds R-30 is a clone of SBA-03 as well. Not sure)

Fischer FA-004 = Brainwavz HM3 (I think, not sure)

Fischer FA-003 = Brainwavz HM5

Fischer DBA-02 = Brainwavz B2 (Probably Rockit Sounds R-50 too - Not sure)

Slightly higher priced!! That is a full 1500/- more expensive than any other IEM's being talked about and if the Sennheiser doesn't perform at that level it is full of holes.

Apart from that, what are your musical tastes?

I prefer listening to all sorts of music - my favorites though are Hip Hop, Indie-Pop, Alternative Rock and Dance, Electro, Trance and Techno.

Almost everyone manufactures at China nowadays, and as you've mentioned, many brands are actually chinese OEM designs. I have this suspicion that even the Tekfusion TW are probably a chinese OEM design than an actual Indian design.

However there is a difference in quality when a reputed brand manufactures at China versus a Chinese manufacturer. Apple & Sansa manufacture at China, but you'll hear less about their players breaking. On the other hand, if you took the "popular" S:Flo, the breakage seemed much higher in proportion.

Similarly, I've rarely heard about Sennheiser IEMs breaking down, but there are so many cases of breakage with SoundMagic, BrainWavz, Hifiman etc. I was, at a point, seriously considering the RE0, but finally didn't proceed after seeing so many breakages with Hifiman's products.

I feel when they're manufacturing for others, they probably have to adhere to some SLAs over quality. But when they are manufacturing for selling it themselves, quality isn't usually a factor being considered; its a hit & miss affair.

Yes! Your last line is how I feel things are. Apple and some of the manufacturers enforce quality control. But, when it comes to Chinese products, I have a feeling that they would rather replace a defective product (cheaper to produce en masse) than adhere to strict QC and reject pieces. As you mentioned, it's a hit or miss. FWIW, I had RE0 in possession for a couple of years (most of the time just sitting there). clieOS has owned it for 3 years or more (but with regular use, I guess).

Twinwoofers are indeed manufactured in China as their comment on the blog page mentions

@Ravi: The Twinwoofers are designed and engineered in India, and assembled in China
