I am having a Vodafone prepaid number since 2005 9819######. On Tuesday 22nd February 2011 I got an SMS that "I need to submit my documents by 24th February else my service will be discontinued". I didn't had time & I also forgot to submit documents, so on Friday morning my service was stopped, no network.

On Saturday 26th February I went to Vodafone store & submitted my documents, here the executive is saying that my number has been permanently switched off. it will take at least 7 days to activate the service & if it is not activated then this number is dead, I will have to take a new number.
WTF!!!...I am a vodafone user since 2005, this is how you treat your customers. I spoke to the customer care, they said we cant do anything you will have to wait for 7 days.

I am pissed of with the way they have treated. Loosing a number is like losing an identity in the world. I just need my number back.......

I think nothing would help you here, but you can try posting this o their facebook page, and send zonal officer a mail and I think that may work out.

Try going to a centre where an Vodafone employee sits. Talk to that person. The other monkey's are helpless and useless.

the same thing happened to me some time earlier abt 6 months ago with airtel ,i have been using since 2002, i went to the customer care centre locally they told me no has been permanently disabled ,it will now come into circulation after 1 year or so i was like WTF!!

they made me talk to a higher person the phone who also said the same thing ,

disappointed , i then called the airel nodal office no which got from their website and told them the matter and the airtel relationship centre which did this to me , they said wud get back to me in 7 days , and my no was back after 7 days with excatly the same services and balance and all ,

see this is a very rare case , so thgey wud activate ur no as was done by airtel to me , dont know how vodafone goes abt this ...

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

u need to talk to their NODAL office or even appellate authority...

Also try buzzing them on twitter their ids are @VodafoneIN, also same with Airtel @Airtel_Presence and @airtel_IN

Buzz them with continuous messages describing your problem, you will get a call back and most likely your problem will be solved amicably. I used that channel to solve my problem with AIRTEL DTH. Also Right now I am in discussion with Vodafone twitter people regarding my porting out request from Vodafone to other provider.

Also this is not vodafone or Airtel but GOI and TRAI have instructed all telcos to gather fresh CAF forms to wipe out dummy / ghost SIM cards, so anyone who gets such message from their service provider do go with priority to the CC center and submit the fresh documents.

ESCALATE, get hold of the nodal officer details of your circle. They will get your services restored don't worry. Also use their twitter account for complaints, not fast but very effective.

Honestly, I don't think anybody gives you a 2 day deadline to submit documents.

Most of my friends on Vodafone Prepaid have been given warning for almost a year now, including a long recorded message when you try to make an outgoing call.

Maybe you ignored the earlier messages and your paying the price for that?

or you can swear to call that number and annoy the future owners off the number :P

they did the same to my old vodafone number.

i purchased an idea number about 6months ago.. the number is dead now because i did not use it for 90days in between.

this was never mentioned to me and they asked to get new number.

I said it is a very bad idea and left. :P

now i bought reliance GSM..

they barred my service 7days after activation stating that I did not submit document..i had done that.

but I submitted documents again anyways.. service was reinstated in 3 day..

and bam!! after 3days they bar my service again stating they same reason.

Im not sure what is to be done in this regard, shall i send my family pics to prove my identity?

freshly zeroxed drivers license but wasnt that the same the last time? :S

After submitting the document and filling the form, always take a photocopy of the filled form and take the signature of the company representative on it in the gallery where you submit your form. This will serve as an acknowledgment receipt and is helpful in case you face some problem.

As per my knowledge i got this sms just 2 days back...i am sure about this coz im a SMS addicted person, i knw what SMS are coming in my inbox....When i spoke to CC they said that the SMS has been sent in November also...we dnt close after just warning in 1 message....Agreed that you will not close my account in 1 warning but I am sure i didn't get such SMS before....

Well in my case i received a message that my documents are pending for verification at 9.30pm in the evening , next day when i got up , i checked my phone at 9.00am , there was no network i restarted the phone and got the message "sim card registration failed "

now how did they expect me to submit documents overnight :p

well, even im using a vodafone number since 05.9986xxxxxx,post paid, and they debit the money directly from the bank.even i got the message.next came a call from my local center, submit the documents.i told them that they *bleep* overcharge and ive shifted over to airtel, the number is lying idle.i told them to cancel the number if they wanted to,and i didnt give a *bleep*.id rather put the money i feed them for their *bleep* plans for better use.
and then i cut the call.
the guy at the other end sounded rude,or i'd never talk like that.number is still working.on second thoughts,i might as well make it prepaid and leave it,since i have owned it for so long.

he is not talking about porting here,

he was asked to resubmit the documents for re-verification by the same operator (in this case vodafone) . this is now mandatory as per TRAI guidelines , and failure to do so has resulted in disconnection of his no.

he has nowhere mentioned he ported from airtel to voda or vice-versa

as someone mentioned earler this is being done by TRAI to wipe out ghost sims , so please do it on priority basis for any disruption like this :)

Just got an sms asking me to submit documents to the Vodafone store :@ The sms says that I will get 50 bux discount on my next bill if I submit the documents in the next 7 days :P
