Things mentioned in the article exactly have been my issues with Aadhar. Submitting biometric info to a government with non-existent privacy law is something I dont want to do. Still my colleagues say I want to commit crimes in the future hence refusing (they can "sense" what the biometrics are actually gonna be used for - the function creep).
Now considering, forensics has less of a science behind it - the potential for abuse is just humungous (http://www.techenclave.com/community/threads/documentaries-worth-watching.71814/page-10#post-1854448)

@asingh - thats one hell of a journey. You should've carried a cam with you for a documentary --- Aadhar without the aadhar from the government :p
 
Whatever it is Aadhar will definitely be used for all the wrong reasons and motives.

A fallacy that inverts the innocent until proven guilty premise we have in place.
 
Im just so glad I decided against enrolling unless there was a law that required it and also a law and the legal sanctity in place that protected the collection, storage, access and use of this information by designated authorities.

I said right at the start this was a worthless half baked scheme with no legal sanctity or adequate safeguards

@asingh, passport has more value than aadhar card. Its an official document saying you're Indian citizen. Plus its verified by govt of India and acceptable as both id and residence proof. You can tell anyone to f off if they insist you to get aadhar.

They are not allowing a lot of civic proceedings now, here in Delhi without the Aadhar.

Right, this was back in 2011.

Sources in the Committee say the Bill has been rejected in its current form on the grounds of the project's high cost, as well as concerns regarding national security, privacy and duplication of the National Population Register's (NPR) activities. I submit that Hon'ble Supreme Court's order vindicates the Punjab and Haryana High Court
order, PSC report and the Statement of Concern dated September 28, 2010 issued by 17 eminent citizens including Justice VR Krishna Iyer, Prof Romila Thapar, Late Shri SR Sankaran, Justice AP Shah, Late Shri KG Kannabiran, Shri Bezwada Wilson, Smt Aruna Roy and Prof Upendra Baxi seeking halting of the project.

^... Which means Govt./ agency is still forcing it even though Supreme Court made an injunction on the matter & Oil ministry saying its not necessary....

Its not still implemented in my city....

I believe there is a final hearing in Supreme Court on Oct 22
