I am planning to get Phenom 2 X4 925 proccy. Wen is the release date of the same???
Can u guys help me with some good DDR3 mobos and rams?

My bydget for ram+mobo is 12K.

You can look at Biostar for your mobo. Its a good mobo and should be cheaper than the others. If you want to spend a bit more go for the gigabyte. The asus has got very bad reviews and I would stay away from it for now.

For DDR3 ram, I would not really know, maybe some one else can guide you.

guess mine was the first spider on the board :)

What??

Anyway I just got in some new swiftech fully forged copper heatsinks for the vrm's. Will add some pics tonite. Nice heavy stuff and looks well made. Lets c if it helps with the overclock.

SO here is the pic of the switech coolers mounted. I have found them to draw quite a bit of heat while overclocking, and looks like the volts are slightly more stable, but this could be my imagination.

I also got a paste of MX-2 today and thought I would try it. Finally I have seen for myself that there is absolutely no difference in temps between AS-5 and MX2...so please use whatever you can find, one is not better than the other in this case.

Tried a lot, but am not able to find where the gap is. Basically I am able to boot up at 4 Ghz but not able to get into windows. I must say here that the heatsinks from Amarbir - Swiftech -have made a difference to the stability of the vcore.

I am trying to figur eout where the gap is as of now. I have reduced the HT and NB speeds significantly for 3.9. Do you think I need to go back up on that.

Temps are pretty ok with the computer idling at 37-38. Have not tried load temps at that level as it was not very stable.

I thing that I have understood is that the mobo makes a bg difference to the OC that you can achieve. I may think of going ddr3 and the new asus or gigabyte ddr3 board, but a top end one, as I believe that am3 would give me a good upgrade path even after 2-3 years.

Anyone have any good info on ddr3 boards, or nice OC DDR2 bords please do share.

^^Which Ram /?? Ram maybe bottleneck :p

Which HSF you got ? Whats the cost and how big it is, which model .. I will be getting UL90 soon :)

Edit : For Am3 / DDR3 Asus M series is great for OC for overall awesome kit MSI GD FX 70 retails for 11.5k from amarbir :p

Edit 2 : Set the Dram:FSB ration to 1:1 ..

How the hell do I set dram FSB ratio to 1:1...rite now its more like 1:2. The ram is not the problem. Here i am running it stock but can run it all the way to 1100 Mhz 6-6-6-21 timings. Here its just at stock speeds. Its OCZ Reapers CL 4 edition.SO thats ruled out.

HSF its the OCZ Vendetta 2...we spoke abt it in your thread.

so im assuming phenom I is 65nm while phenom II is 45nm?

Well, in terms of prices, how do these processors compare with their intel counterparts? ( includes oc'ing, temps etc. )

You got DDR2 800 Mhz ? Right .. So its running @ 400mhz..

Go to the BIOS and see an option where you can select ram speed.. Select the lowest speed probably 200mzhz in Bios.. That will get it @ 1:1

Hi guys, I am planning 2 build an gaming rig with Amd phenom 2 940 proccy...'

Suggest some mobo with Amd 790gx chipset except biostar as I don't think it is as good as asus or gigabyte, btwn 7k...'

A 6 gb ram 2*3 gb @ 1066 mhz..., what abt Corsair...'

^^Why that odd pair of kit ? All 3 will run in single channel :p

Get the proccy and buy either Biostar or Jetway 790GX the former retails >5k and the latter >6.5k ..

For ram either get 2Gb X 4 or 2gb X 2 :p
