Has anyone used or using Samsung Infuse 4G mobile Phone ? It is / was AT&T exclusive and only available in USA. It has 4.5" screen. I was thinking about getting it now or may be later on. Would like to see if there is any user here.

If yes then please mention your experience with the same.

As of now it can be obtained on ebay auction for under 300 USD for used / mint / new pieces (depends on luck).

I am aware that it is single core processor and all but i am not a power user as such and hence single core is ok. Moreover i read in reviews that it can play videos (upto 1080p) fine.

Any issues with working of Phone in India (after unlock ofc) ??

I was told by a member that #frankmehta has used this, so this tagging for him to let him know about this thread. Cannot PM as PM linit reached (forum bug i know)

Look up at XDA forums as well. You'll find it for cheaper than 300$. And if it has the same Mali GPU as the Galaxy S, then it should be able to play high def stuff though 1080p will need a h/w accelerated player

Tagging #frankmehta and #veer_singh to check this thread and provide their inputs to this.

Thanks for the link.

I am closely following the auctions on ebay.com and see most of them go under 300$. Yesterday one used piece went for under 200$

Btw is it safe to buy from XDA ?? I mean it is not the usual buy and sell website and i do not have much experience of XDA.

Can you specify me the buy and sell links on xda ?? Is it like under specific phones section ??

I was planning to get one. Is it a good buy? Or should go for the S2 instead? Just want a powerful android phone for experiments

AFAIK infuse is single core and S2 is dual core. I am planning to go for this and not S2 because i do not really require dual cores and such as i am not going to use anything which is resource intensive. I want to use for watching videos on the go apart from basic telephony / messaging. I rarely play games on mobile and if ever i play, they are those timepass casual games like solatire, bejeweled etc

From the reviews i read / saw, the Infuse can handle videos quiet well, even 1080p, which i have no intention of playing on the phone.

The 4.5" screen should be awesome for videos. But you'll have to stick to a samsung based rom to get h/w acceleration. CM7/ MIUI will not do h/w accl, and you'll have to resort to cpu decoding.

it goes between 230$ to 260$ Mint ones with box , New ones go around 275-290$ with box .

This cellphone can play 1080p full HD videos easily ,

The best part of this cellphone is its Huge sup-amoled plus screen , 8mp cam and 1.3 mp cam with flash , and the design of S2 ., 1750MAH battery . MHL compatible .

Performance : 1.2ghz is quite impressive , its not that blazing fast as you find in S2 or any other dual core cellphones , but you can open and browse files within 1-2 seconds .

its the best for the price , Huge sup amoled plus is the highlighted part of the cellphone .

camera is awesome

hope this helps .......

Thanks for the information. Did you change to some custom ROM or are on stock ?

Did standalone GPS (no google maps) work fine with you ?

From the reviews i checked, they suggest that in order to retain certain things like H/W acceleration, full of features camera and may be something

else, i need to stay on stock. I am ok with that since i do not really fancy anything special or do not really want gestures / fancy lock screens etc.

I am happy if the things in phone work as expected and i can make use of the phone to make / receive calls, send / receive SMS and watch Videos apart from random game play.

Will it perform well on stock if these are my requirements ?

Btw is the Touchwiz thing bad ??

Also one more query, Is there an official GB ROM for the Infuse 4G ??

I bought many cellphones , and sold many infuse to my friends and relatives , some people found stock is stable . one of my friend have over clocked it to something above 1.5ghz [not sure though]

am using stock 2.2 and I have put Honey comb PRO theme with go launcher installed .......

I guess official ginger bread is not there , I have used once my friend's Infuse serendipity rom on it , actually it was quite fast , never used GPS

for your expectations , it will fulfill your needs

ive used the infuse for quite a while ,its a cheap s2 tbh, everything if you compare to the s2 is the same minus a few differences comparing are below

Pros -

Same smoled plus screen now only bigger 4.5"

Bigger juicier batter which lasts longer since single core @ 1800mah

Single core so no heating issues , ive played asphalt 6 for half hour to see it get slightly warm.

Comes with MHL cable outta the box

Cons

512mb ram ( This is not a con, use custom roms and ive seen 50% + ram free mostly)

Single core 1.2Ghz - STill suffices , no lag anywhere, 1080 videos are only playable on mhl on a connected display. 720p plays just fine on phone

No NFC
<

Slghtly bigger to hold in hand n get used to.

For those having the phone , use the infused-v2.1.0 rom, its Gingerbread and rock solid, never hada single FC or reboot while on it, excellent battery too.

Hope this helps those interested.

Even i am contemplating selling off my S2 and get an Infuse or a Note.

Iam more inclined towards the Infuse as i am not much of a poweruser. I only use my S2 to stay connected and watch some episodes now and then and from what I have heard the Infuse is no slouch when it comes to basic use.Plus being a single core phone with a beefier battery i could get rid of the one grouch I had with the S2.

#Raksrules - What is your budget? I might be able to get you one if i get one for myself.

I am not sure when i will buy since i am not using a GSM phone here. My ZTE blade is just lying around unused. My requirements are more or less like yours. I too am not a power user and dpo believe that the single core will actually be good for the battery life.

Moreover there are lots of ROMS available which are based on the leaked GB version so the features like H/W acceleration in videos etc will still stay intact i guess.

I was just following the auctions on ebay.com and saw that the used ones go for anything between 200-260 USD while the mint / new ones go for 260-300 USD.

Where are you planning to get from ?

I love the phone personally.

Looks great and performs like a champ.

Not a fan of the Stock OS. I prefer to load infused on it and then take it for a spin.

You cannot go wrong with it.

I opened a thread on XDA for some Infuse related queries and people there were suggesting on getting a Note, but IMO, note will come at almost 3 times the price of Infuse and is it worth spending so much for me.

I think my requirements can be fulfilled by the Infuse and Note IMO will be bigger than necessary (just my opinion). But since i have never used either of them, i cannot comment much.

Finally the matter boils down to price that i am willing to pay. I know that even if i get the note, the dual core stuff and 1GB RAM is not really something that i require.

If my phone makes calls fine, plays most video formats i give, then i am done.

^^Hey thanks for that but i am planning to buy the phone after couple of months or so. I am as it is not using any GSM handset and even my blade is just sitting idle. So even if i get the phone, i have no SIM card to use it.

Hope the price will come under 200$ when i buy.

Touchwiz isn't too bad.

I have my ROM ported to Infuse (Gingerbread 2.3.6) "Jetpack MOD" on XDA...

@ rakrules ...... if you are planning to buy this after couple of months then there is no use , because till that time Hercules price will come below 300$
