Anyone Used / Using Samsung Infuse 4G ?

If anyone here is a reputed member on XDA and is active in their market section and finds a good deal on an Infuse, do update this thread and also make the seller hold the phone for me. I have very less number of posts so i guess i am not really reputed / known member there.

Yes XDA is a better bang for buck anyday.Plus you can pay with PayPal as goods to have buyer protection. Similar to Ebay.

People at XDA usually don't hold the devices like we do in our MP. Phones like Infuse are snagged up within a few hours, usually by Indians who then sell it for profit here in India.Let me ask and see if I can get one for you.
 
Btw i read the market guidelines on XDA and they suggest against giving the money as GIFT and rather insist on sending money for goods ?

How much is paypal fees if we assume that the seller is expecting 275$ for the phone ?

Ok got one NIB for 278 $

I have bought the infuse through the ebay auction for like 278$ for a NIB piece. Can you explain me (possible in noob language) as to how can i unlock the phone myself ?
 
dont go for a expensive transaction for the first time in XDA , they may sell a temporarily repaired cellphone , in ebay most of the sellers are prompt . try to find any girl used phone or may be by some official which is in stock firmware or always used with case and screen protector .

mint ones max 250$ , new ones max 280$ . you can easily find at this price at ebay .

about the unlocking .

Install samsung mobile drivers , put you cellphone in debugging mode and connect it to PC , then open the "root" file which is in the below zip file , it takes like max 6-8 seconds , and it you shows the unlock code .

About samsung mobile drivers, can you tell me where to download that from ?? I am new to samsung mobiles.

Also there is no risk in using the method you mentioned right ??
 
Great thanks a lot for the help. Now waiting for the phone to come home and then will try the unlock code and everything.

Btw i may not flash any ROM as this phone is for my brother and he is not at all concerned about ROM and anything as such. All he wants is a functional phone and i guess the default ROM should be fine for his needs. (???)

If he does not like the TW Launcher, i will suggest him GO launcher EX or something else.

Does the infuse come with some default screen protector out of the box or i will need to put a screen protector myself ? I mean like most phones do come with some sort of factory fitted screen protector

And best (but not expensive and does not make phone bulky) case recommendations for the infuse ?

PS: I am asking so many queries now only because i need to buy case / screen guard etc now itself as this phone is not available in India and my brother won't find the accessories there. And i need to send this phone through collegaue here who is going back to India in next few days.

buy it from US sellers for quick delivery and dont go for silicone cases because while removing from the pockets it pulls the pocket inside cloth out and it attracts dust and these cases are not bulky ........
 
I too wanted to go for US sellers primarily because of faster shipping. HK sellers will take lots of time to deliver (even here) and i don't have that much time. I will check the cases you have mentioned.

Earlier #frankmehta had mentioned the TPU case somewhere in this thread. Is that good too ? Or it seems it is the same you have mentioned.

For the NIB pieces, you will have to keep looking on ebay. I did not do a Buy it now but rather bid on an auction and won it. If the auction price goes above my "willing to pay" price i leave that auction and try checking the next available auction. I guess you will get a NIB with Buy it Now for like 299$ or so.

For shipping you can use shop and ship service, if you do not have account, you can create one for 5$.
 
I read on XDA that the battery life on stock froyo on Infuse is very bad. How bad is it ??

Since this phone is for my brother and he is not really into tinkering the phone or knows nothing about ROM installation or anything, i am bit confused as what to do before i give the phone to him.

I fear that i might loose some of the functionality like HDMI and may be good video playback ability or something i don't even know

if i flash a GB ROM on this.

What should i do ??

Don't know why Samsung / AT&T is not releasing official GB ROM when there are so many GB leaks out there for some time.

Dont worry, Just flash your phone with any one click stock odin images(Gingerbread stock/leaked rom only) for the GB bootloader mentioned here and then you can flash a custom rom/ or any rom on GB for that purpose.

Samsung updates their Bootloaders with every new Android release, and Custom Roms are not bundled with bootloaders, bootloader is something like kernel which is needed to boot the OS also once you update the bootloader to GB one its backward compatible, so you can flash a froyo rom without bootloader to the phone and the phone would boot up fine.

1. When you get your phone, flash this http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1331381

2. You need modded

2. install CWM from above guide/link, so now you have 2.3.6 OS which has GB bootloader.

3. Download any custom/ported rom and install it using CWM, place the .zip rom file in ext sd card and boot into CWM and install the rom.

4. thats it!!!!!
 
There seems to be a very good chance that the Infuse might be getting an official GB update pretty soon as per XDA. The captivate got it like 1 year after launch. The leaks have stopped coming in an there is a new download that appeared on samsung's page, the Kies mini for the Infuse.

This all means that an official update may soon be available. I hope it does, before i ship the phone.

So i received my new Infuse just today and while removing the SIM card, the two pins out of the three inside, under the housing (just outside i can see 6 pins), has to be broken / bent. It had come out of the housing on the other side (where 6 pins can be seen).

In order to put them back in place, i had to use a tweezer to bend the housing bit up so i can push those 2 pins back in place.

After this inserted my non AT&T SIM card and unlocked the phone. Then removed the SIM card and tried another SIM and it said there is no SIM.

Again i put my old SIM which worked and for that too it said there is no SIM.

I think the damage is done and i am so so angry on myself :mad:

Is there absolutely any hope left for me ?

Is this thing repairable ??

I have absolutely no hopes and have to i live with the fact that i have lost 275$

the replacement part is not available anywhere , once I repair my cell will tell you how I did

ask the seller whether its under warranty or something like that , as you are in US , take it to service center , In INDIA they dont provide any service to imported cellphones

I do not think if it is under warranty and even if it is then they can clearly see it is a damage done by user and wont entertain it.

I will be selling it off ebay for parts or not working and recover whatever i can

whatever i get. I am not sure for now. There is one auction going on for a phone with similar issue as mine. Everything ok and new and sim slot destroyed. I am following that and checking what happens to that.

I am still not able to cope up with the loss of a brand new phone
