Apple awarded patent for in-call App switching, readies the biggest lawsuit yet!

Apple has been awarded a patent for a “portable electronic device with graphical user interface supporting application switching.â€, this is going to be the company’s biggest win. What this basically means is that Apple has been awarded a patent for a SmartPhone. All brands and all manufacturers will fall under the knife of Apple’s lawyers. This will put and end to all legal battles that the company has with HTC and Samsung.

Of course the patent is worded very vaguely and covers almost all devices that allow you to switch between applications when on a call. This most definitely covers Android and WinPho devices if not Blackberry and Symbian. Apple should be already sharpening its knives to slaughter the entire opposition.

Wow., this is crazy. Surely, the folks at the patent office should use their brain for a change. But can this patent not be challenged, if it can be proved that this thing has been implemented in "other" OS / devices before the patent was granted?

What's next ?? Apple patent's sneezing, eating, sleeping, farting? Every time you break wind, Apple's lawyers will sue you. Stupid idea, stupid patent trolls.

Motorola/Google should sue them back - since motorola invented the mobile phone. Checkmate Apple!

+1. But I doubt this could be possible. What if Moto sues back Apple with features like Dialpad, call, call connect - disconnect, sms, network registration et al. the list never ends !

Any patent experts here, pour in your thoughts....

What? So who will file a patent for a phone that makes a call? Or phone that can text?. Are these patents applicable across the world? or one area?

IIRC in-call app switching was possible on S60 phones long back before iOS/android were born. And I think it must have been there in other contemporary OSs too. So how can Apple get a patent for such a thing? :S

Yup. It was even in Nokia 1100 ! While you are in call you can browse through Menu etc. Isn't that In-Call app switching ?

You guys are in serious trouble - I just patented the universe and everything in it!!!

Apple Inc = The most deadly life sucking parasite, reason I would never spend a new paisa to buy their products.
All corporations are in these type of practices but Apple has crossed the limit, patenting every basic and obvious action is not innovation suckers.

I patented insertion into girls, or, somewhere in them.

I think that leaves every single MALE in this planet in the DUST.

hahahahaha, I win APPLE I WIN!

Apple will kill off the smaller players in the mobile segment. It is good that some chinese courts hate apple more then some folks here. .

Patent is applicable only in the country its awarded in (expect some cases where countries form a union like the EU).
