Pat said:Seeing how blatantly some companies have ripped off Apple's works, there is nothing wrong in a company trying it's best to safeguard it's IP (not referring to this patent in particular). I don't know much about this patent, so I would like to reserve my thoughts until I read more about it. However, it's really funny (although not surprising) to see the amount of hatred and bias over here! Well, Motorola sued Apple for using 3G technology (which is a universal standard) and also won. But it's all cool and fine as long as it's not Apple.
Switch said:Okey so i guess its a bad thing to get something patented. Come on guys. Apple only just got it patented. They have sued anybody as of yet for the same. Why so much hate.

6pack said:I dont have anything against a company safeguarding their ip. But Apple is acting like a big bully. They dont want to license their ip's and they sue so that other mobiles are banned completely and they file complaints not with patent office (Where they will loose 100% most of the time) but with the USTrade commission where they can do maximum damage and ban import of the phones alltogether.
Samsung asked to licence some of their os patents in Australia and USA, but were denied and Apple said they wanted to ban android os phones completely there. This is like saying that they do not want any other phone company in USA or other countries where they wish.
Apple stopped innovating long time back. Now they open new proxy companies to sue the heck out of others. Its working like a company run by patent trolls now.

IPhone has been a revolution as far as phones are concerned. If you look at the OSes right now, almost all of them have been born after the iOS.I am not much aware of the history behind wars but i can say that its really bad for consumers as we will never get all good features in one device.
It would be very helpful if someone could explain- if a creates something and then b creates same thing and patents it then will a have to pay b?
I can see a lot of features in ios which were present in old symbian phones... Dint they patent it? I saw notification panel in android and bada n now its in belle and io5. So what about that?
They indeed revolutionized the Music industry. iTunes was introduced in the time of Napster. And also Steve's offer to Music companies, they had to agree, they had no other choice. Sales in music increased 200% fold afaik. Isn't that revolutionary ?vivek.krishnan said:And it seems that Jobs has recieved some sort of post houmous award or something for revolutionising music. :sheesh:
All he did was do what the MAFIAA wanted, lock in with DRM.
