Don't you realize it's a matter of personal taste...

I personally prefer butter chicken with Naan , doesn't mean someone who loves his Idiappam with Veg stew is any better or worse than I am ...

And None of us pawn each other....

On second thoughts, I am just wasting my time.....Chennai has it fair share of bigots, Bangalore a little less...but you just proved how a Delhi or Kanpur (Or wherever you are from ) is no better....

Oh, and for the record, I am a non-local Chennaite...originally hailing from the eastern region of the country
 
When I first came to hyderabad, I was appalled see everyone eat overflowing heaped bowls full of rice. Used to it now and well ...... rice is not so bad :D

At the bigot part - IT IS FOOD WE'RE TALKING ABOUT. DEGRADING FOOD IS NOT EQUAL TO DEGRADING A RACE OR A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS. How is it then that I'm a bigot :(.

The use of the word "pwn" generally implies humour . Its a rendition of the word "owned" which was typically used by 13 year old cs geeks to signify some sort of victory. The use of pwned is roughly similar to "OMGWTFPWNEDLOL!!1!one" The presence of the "one" at the end signifies humour meant for adults.

That is all this is. It's humour. Only the auto wallah part and the seekh kebab> idli part are my true beliefs. That does not make me a bigot :@ .

trust me 90% of the problem is language barrier... if ur fluent in a language with a lil sweet tongue u wont face ne issues watsoever be it newhere in the world ;)

it was the same problem in cal as well hindi speakers werent appreciated much long time back, learning bengali was a essential thing to get around, even bihaari guys used to speak in tuti futi bengali was fun listening to their accent :lol:... now its a different case though :)
 
I have often felt that the prejudice has a lot to do with superfluous or facial differences. This is especially true for north-east indian folks.
 
On that point I agree. Manipuris, nepalis and the rest of the NE people are generally illtreated because of both the facial as well as language differences. On the other hand, the average manipuri is way cooler than the average north/south Indian. Listen to these guys go on the drums, guitars. It's a good thing these guys have their own groups.
 
Actually, I dont know why you people are getting so upset over FOOD !!

I mean, the identity of South or North Indians isnt that weak that it hinges only on food.

See me.... born and brought up in Bangalore. But I prefer North Indian food anyday over South Indian food.

If I go out for a meal, I just cannot have South Indian. I have to have north indian. Only mom's dosas and idlis are good enough for me :P

Does that mean I think of all South Indians the way I think of their food ?? Of course not....

You do realize that you have only racially stereotyped them right, whether it be good or bad. Race has nothing to do with the kind of talent that one has.
 
You know, I don't agree with you there. They are infact cooler than the average North/south indian. It's not a bad point or a good point but those are facts I've come to learn from my experiences with NE, nepali guys. they're also better fighters than both north/south Indians in general.

Race does have a lot to do with the talents one has. Why is it that south americans have a greater number of people with lovely football skills than the europeans in the major leagues?

Why is it that the average chinese iq is amongst the highest in the world? Why is it that we Indians work for 1/4th of what an average guy earn and yet we get more work done than he could ever imagine. Maybe it's because we as a race are submissive, meek? I'm talking of humanity as a whole. Mild stereotyping is prevalent everywhere. Statistics have repeatedly proved some stereotypes to be indeed correct.

Stereotyping in a mild manner as above are not harmful to anyone.

You'd be surprised at how much race and upbringing, ancestory have altered our perceptions of the world as we see it. We automatically consider german cars to be the best, japanese cars to be efficient, thats a form of stereotyping.
 
You mentioned the keyword right there in the last few lines of your post. How good a person is at a certain thing is entirely dependent on upbringing. Race has little to do with it. It depends a lot on the mindframe and lifestyles of each region and race and country that fashions people into what society expects out of them.

Btw is the two wheeler tax really 140%? WTF. I was thinking about getting my dad to buy me a cbr 600. With a 140% tax I think I'd be better off buying a normal car.
