No they are not related. There was an episode where Fifth gear hosts were invited for a Top gear vs Fifth Gear showdown. Recently Tiff Needell was in Top Gear to do the test laps till they could find a new Stig.

Jeremy Clarkson celebrates the 50th birthday of the Jaguar E-type by driving a modern-day interpretation of this sports classic, and throwing a typically low-key party involving live music, classic fighter planes and the Royal Marines. Richard Hammond is in South Africa, where he tests a bigger, more rugged alternative to the Hummer, and James May enlists the help of Olympic athlete Amy Williams to try out the latest Mini rally car. Plus, the Stig takes the BMW 1-series M around the test track and another celebrity gets behind the wheel of the Reasonably Priced Car.
 
cant wait for the new series. The red truck which hammond is driving was also shown in season 16 preview. But didnt make it in any episodes. Looks like they will show it in S17. Nice to see bernie on Top Gear
 
Didn't they use the same truck in Fast Five/Fast and the Furious 5? Maybe they didnt show it in S16 cause the movie wasn't released then.
 
Top Gear Season 17 - Episode 1 - 9/10 -- Perfect start to the new season! The Marauder is truly massive!!!!

Episode 2 seems to be a perfect 10! This seasons looks like it will be epic!

The trio travel to Italy to test high-performance hatchbacks. Jeremy Clarkson is in the Citroen DS3 Racing, Richard Hammond champions the Fiat 500C Abarth and James May makes the case for the Renaultsport Clio 200 Cup as they navigate their way round baffling Italian towns and take part in a scavenger hunt. Also, petrolhead comedian Ross Noble is in the Reasonably Price Car and the McLaren MP4-12C supercar comes under review.
 
@Anaghdesari: Nope... the truck shown in Fast Five was Armet Gurkha LPV (Dwayne Johnson 'The Rock' Talks Fast Five GURKHA F5). Marauder is a completely different beast.

The first episode was a truly great start of the season. I am hoping this season has more episodes, however, judging by Jezza's dialog in first episode it seems there will be again 6 or 7 (6 regular, 1 special) episode in this season. :(
 
Saw the review for the mclaren on fifth gear telecast for the 24th june so the verdict i guess will be similar if compared to the ferrari 458 italia.
 
Man , these guys dont hesitate the Amount(money :P ) they put in their shows ,

Marauder , the JAG E-type , Excellent start for a new season .....I cant wait..for next one
