Beam cable Hyd 2mbps@999

Just talked to operations manager, Beam. He tells me that 2mbps would be with FUP of just 25GB. After that connection would be 768kbps. Whether they really apply that or just continue to provide 2mbps, is anybody's guess. Took the connection anyway :)

India shining , next IT superpower ;)

Very unlikely, they've already sold several connections under the condition that there would be no FUP. They cant risk a lawsuit.

Initially, it would be all good. Superb speeds, low rates. Once the user base increases, they will start charging more and speeds will also drop.

I have first hand experience with Railwire. :(

I'm getting 2Mbps since last month on beam@1k, latency is same as posted by other users(I'm in Madhapur-HYD :p ) btw downloaded more then 200GB in last 20 days(only night downloads). May be later they will introduce the FUP in their system. Since Past 2 months no problem at all.

Actually he told me too that there's nothing called FUP with beam, call center guys suggest the same. For discussing for half an hour with the sales guy, I asked him to give me in writing that there's no FUP. That's when he called up Operations Manager(I don't remember the name but perhaps it was Karthik) and confirmed that there's FUP of 25GB. Anyway most of the operators today had no FUP before and introduced that later on. I don't know of any lawsuits against them. I wasn't even notified that now there's FUP by tata. I got the news from my friends and checked it on internet.

Beam cable is available only in hyderabad as of now

as for the FUP, i dont really think its implemented as such, besides the best they can do is reduce the speed, which would still be a better speed for the price you are paying, compared to other providers, their's a prepaid connection so they can bill you extra :p

These plans look awesome.. Anyone knows the following things:
1. Do we need to login everytime through a webpage or dialer etc?
2. Can we use it on multiple computers?

No FUP in beam....already downloaded 131gb(thts wht their site says) n still getting 2mbps speed :)

i'm a bit confused.. there website does mention "* FUP is applicable on these plans" however it is placed a bit confusingly and im not sure whether it applies on the unlimited plans or not..

I think u need to login everytime u restart the system ;-).I asked them can it be such way that there is no need of login, they say that login is a must everytime the system restarts.Nyone who has a workaround can shed some light.
U can use it on mutiple computers.

we need to login via webpage using username and password given...it will automatically disconnect after 1hr or so after u shutdown ur system...no need to reconnect everytime u restart(if restart time is less than 1hr)...

@shantanu... We share internet over 3 systems, 1 ipod and 1 mobile using wifi...in extreme cases....no problems in sharing...in fact we play CS online on all 3 systems simulataneously with pings less than 100 on indian servers...

@shady2pac... I live in gachibowli area

Thanks @rohan @kamcoolin.

Another doubt is do you know how much time would they take to provide a connection to a new society? Mine is very new and there are no phone/bband connections there yet. Please see this thread also http://www.techenclave.com/broadband-forum/suggestions-for-connection-in-hyderabad-162886.html if you have any suggestions for me for a suitable isp..

BTW, can anyone post the login page address for beam cable? (I am trying to figure out whether i can create some kind of auto-login script on my router for it before i pay them)
