Skilled
The game is superb. :jumpy:
Here's my experience:
Starting...
Game mode: Medium default.
Have to concentrate hard if you want to secure first position. Was playing the first race (Practice, quali, race) with keyboard. Ached my fingers badly to come first, 2-3 spins during race, sheer thrill.
Then I plugged in the Momo racing wheel, and experienced that the game has excellent support for a wheel. The understeers and rumblestrips gave feedback to the wheel with excellent accuracy. The steering sensitivity is also exceptionally good.
During the second race it started raining, while I was on intermediate tires. Things got really difficult with the 20% rain visibility, new controller, huge skids, spins, I had used all flashbacks, but eventually had to restart race.
Set Driving Line: Always on if you want to win a rain race. Tweaked the car for better acceleration rather than top speed by shifting the gear ratios to short. Also, increased downforce.
Concentrated hard on the line, eventually adjusted the driving style to the rain (very different from regular dry race) to win.
Won 2 more dry races and then turned on tyre wear and fuel simulation. Now it will again be difficult to secure podium, and that's what all the thrill is about.
Conclusion: Finally a great F1 game which is a worthy successor to the old F1 Challenge 99-02. Since then, things have moved slightly towards the arcade style but the simulation features have also been pushed a notch higher: Adjusting wing angles at different parts of the lap to get that extra second off the lap time, deciding tyre strategies, abiding to flags and other rules, regular R&D of car, keeps your interest in the game.
Now checking the net for finer setups for upcoming races
EDIT: Found this: http://www.racedepartment.com/f1-2010-setups/ Seems good.
