Best power supply units

Re Seasonic, AFAIK there are only three lineups - S12II, G and KM3 & all their products are either upgraded or downgraded versions of these three basic platforms.

Re the Flextronics supplies - yes those are really good. Very pricey too :)

Thanks a lot @cranky for explaining in details. I'm not in touch with the news/development of PC components in details for the last 2-3 years. So lost track of a lot of info. What I understand from you post other than the in depth details is that a good 80+ 650W PSU should be enough for any typical single GPU system. And if budget permits, always choose the PSU from better platforms for reliability and longevity.

I was wondering, why is there no mention of any Corsair G-series? I've heard many mixed reviews and I've never used it personally so I'm a bit confused as to which one I should trust. :S

Because the Corsair GS series uses unreliable caps - Samxon GF.

I've noticed a few recommendations for the Antec VP450 recently, so before someone asks - its a low-end FSP using unreliable Teapo caps - hence not on the list either.[DOUBLEPOST=1373408013][/DOUBLEPOST]
2. You might want to add the Coolermaster V series supplies: http://www.coolermaster.in/category.php?category_id=3594
Spotted these on Techshop finally. Adding to the list :)

any chance to add Antec VP450 which is a very good unit at 2.8k
Review

No, it's not good. It's a good 'budget' unit. These results, for example, are crap: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Antec-VP450-Power-Supply-Review/1487/8

Power factor stays below 0.7 throughout each test - which means no PFC.

Compare these to a power supply that costs roughly the same: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Seasonic-S12II-Bronze-430-W-Power-Supply-Review/1590/8

The title of the page says 'Best'. That has a very specific meaning. This is not 'best' by any stretch of imagination.

Ok, got it but you have linked to the wrong pages instead of Load Tests page ;) thanks anyway.

I linked to, and wanted to link to, ripple and noise. Load tests aren't everything and for HWsecrets that is actually a weak point because they don't point out the regulation, just state whether it is in spec or not.

Ripple and noise are far more indicative of power supply quality because they are micro-components and far more difficult and expensive to control than 'regulation'. At the end of the day even ripple is a power error, but a very small one.

Maybe you need to read a bit about PSUs ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1373615806][/DOUBLEPOST]PSU porn, for those interested: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm

Every power supply of note ever released, with review links and OEMs. Click on brand name at the top to link to that brand's page.

So, the PSU upgrade has put me in a soup. I never had to think so hard about a component upgrade ever and now, it seems I am stranded with my trusty old VX450. Here's the scenario :
I'm looking for a Seasonic based unit in the 550-650w range to replace my VX450, looking to buy locally :
1. Seasonic X560 - discontinued
2. Seasonic X650 KMIII - not available with Tirupati
3. Seasonic G550/G650/S12II/M12II - Short 12v EPS cable issue. All have only 550mm cable length, will not be able to route from behind motherboard tray of CM 690. Used to have a Coolermaster unit with 540mm EPS cable. So, I'm pretty sure about this issue. No extension cable available.
4. Corsair HX650 - not available.
5. Antec HCG - warranty issues maybe?
6. Corsair GS/TX, Cooler Master equivalents - not desired.
7. Silent pro Gold/M2 - Sketchy reviews

Do not want to exceed my budget of Rs.8,000/-, otherwise massive overkills like the X750/Vanguards are available.
