Best power supply units

Secret website called Google.com...

First link is
http://www.junglee.com/StarTech-com-8-Inch-8-Pin-Extension-EPS8EXT/dp/B000M802RG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1379349233&sr=1-1&keywords=8pin extension

Though I understand most people on the internet do not know about the website. Maybe they need an ad campaign here, or get a support forum on the. Maybe you could write to the mods.
Well thanks! Not really keen on ordering from the US, that too unbranded, neither do I use credit cards. I'm a total noob when it comes to online shopping, have seldom crossed the threshold of flipkart.Honestly, I was expecting a link to an Indian e-tailer atleast. There are some on ebay.in anyways. But that was not exactly my point. Was looking for the likes of Bitfenix Alchemy / NZXT atleast, etc. I believe there are multiple importers for their products in India.

It depot had the nzxt 8 pin cable for a long time, I bought one from them. I also have a lot of 4 pin extenders which work just as well and are fine for anything except the hottest 140w amd processors. You night want to check with tirupati for the extension cables that seasonic sells. I don't see why you should let a minor cable glitch give you so much grief in what is a simple decision from your list. EBay etc is absolutely fine, I've ordered stuff for years and you'll get what you want for under $5 with free shipping.

Good luck.

The HX650 is available on flipkart. Cable length for the EPS 12V connector is 650mm.

Did you ask Tirupati when they're expecting stock for the X-650?
Call me finicky but that listing is not from wsretail. Still looking to buy locally anyways.
Tirupati declined comment on the availability of the X650, they also outright refused to get me Bitfenix alchemy cables. Thinking of buying the G550 and doing a ghetto. Just cannot hold up my GPU upgrade anymore.

So, the PSU upgrade has put me in a soup. I never had to think so hard about a component upgrade ever and now, it seems I am stranded with my trusty old VX450. Here's the scenario :
I'm looking for a Seasonic based unit in the 550-650w range to replace my VX450, looking to buy locally :
1. Seasonic X560 - discontinued
2. Seasonic X650 KMIII - not available with Tirupati
3. Seasonic G550/G650/S12II/M12II - Short 12v EPS cable issue. All have only 550mm cable length, will not be able to route from behind motherboard tray of CM 690. Used to have a Coolermaster unit with 540mm EPS cable. So, I'm pretty sure about this issue. No extension cable available.
4. Corsair HX650 - not available.
5. Antec HCG - warranty issues maybe?
6. Corsair GS/TX, Cooler Master equivalents - not desired.
7. Silent pro Gold/M2 - Sketchy reviews

Do not want to exceed my budget of Rs.8,000/-, otherwise massive overkills like the X750/Vanguards are available.

Get Seasonic M12II-750 from flipkart at ~8.2k

I said 'had'...

It looks like they don't list it anymore, due to weak demand. It would probably require you to place an order with them or prime or anyone who carries nzxt, or order it off an international site.

They are indeed the same unit but the P version was discontinued in 2011. Reason is not far to find. The one available review pointed out the terrible performance of the unit. For around the same money you could get a S12II and i don't see why anyone would get anything different.

The FSP built Antecs offer no better performance than the CM Extreme series. And those are among the worst supplies in existence.

What is very confusing though, is that the 550P and the 650P are built by Delta and those are much better units. And then there are Neo Eco series that are based on the S12II design with cheaper components and a higher price so anyone with the heebie-jeebies about Seasonic service can opt for a slightly worse power supply by paying slightly more, and get peace of mind [/Irony]

Saying you can get a power supply under 3k that deserves to be discussed in this thread - look at the title - is similar to Mr. Babbar's claim that you can have a meal in Mumbai at Rs. 5. Yes, one can eat for that money, but it is not a meal.

I got your point but still you know many people just don't want to go over 3k for a PSu - most of them don't even use a discrete gpu. Cx430v2 used to be decent but things have changed now.

^ show a little sympathy :D but you are right we can't just compromise with quality.

I'm not being acerbic. The word 'best' has a very specific meaning and is not applicable to budget products. That discussion should be a separate thread, referring only to budget power supplies.

This one should only discuss enthusiast psus, and in the odd chance that a budget psu can make it into that list, then that one.
