Breaking News: Firing in Colaba, Mumbai!! (26-11-2008)

Thanks to everyone for their concern, I am home safely.

Well, I was out at Marine Drive as Rishi mentioned, crossed Oberoi hotel about 15 mins before he called me. Was at Fountain/Kala Ghoda depositing a cheque in HSBC bank when my dad (not me I was inside the bank depositing the cheque) says he heard what sounded like a blast. Could have been anywhere, Nariman point isnt far from there, neither is VT nor is Causeway.

Proper cordoning of the area has been done, all traffic was being redirected towards Cuffe Parade area. There was a jam there, but the traffic was moving. The situation seems to be worsening as of what is heard on TV.

Hope everyone else in Mumbai stays safe and once again, thanks to everyone for their concern and ofcourse, special thanks to Rishi and to tracerbullet for calling me ;)

PS: On phone with Arun, he was at VT. Seems like he heard gunshots!! But he is back home now.
 
Mumbai police confirm it is a terrorist attack. The five-star Hotel Oberoi is under siege and gunmen are reported to have held the occupants hostage.

Hmm I heard huge thuds at my place around 40 mins back though might be a huge accident somewhere down the road. Turns out its the explosion at Neapean Sea road which is not that nearby !!!
 
UPDATE

5 sources say that there has been a blast at Shivaji Park, 2 min from my place.

Though I didn't hear anything, maybe because the TV volume is loud and my windows are closed.

im indeed sorry for the victims and hope all the injured will have a speedy recovery..
 
This is getting ridiculous. Damn it's complete anarchy... fanatics having a free run.

IBNlive reporting five dead and many others injured. I hope TE peeps in Mumbai are safe.
 
I have almost become used to this kind of instability, so much so that this ease is almost disgusting. Mumbai is being treated like a third rate h**ker.

India needs to act now.

F*kin hell... this is utter ridiculous.

How easy it is to f*ck things up in Mumbai? That too in prime areas like South Mumbai?? Where Police HQ, BMC office and prominent government establishments are so nearby?

On top of it... some a*hole is reading the news in overdramatic manner, bloody media pigs will make drama out of everything.
 
i have at times noticed at CST,the securtiy check thing which is kept at entrance many people avoid&pass easily through the small gap available...Also the policemen don't seem to be bothered to stop that person..there should be stringent security measures to be implemented from now....

Police cant check nitty gritty of everything, it is morale responsibility of public also to be vigilant in such spoiled conditions prevailing in India
