BSNL 3G Thread

My Rs. 4200 plan expired on the 21st of July and I've recharged it with 98 Rs. now. For now, my speeds have not been capped. I was however wondering, how is it that BSNL has capped speeds at 256 Kbps for some ppl and 128 KBps for others? Is it region/state - specific? or just at random?

guys i think i asked this a couple of time but got no answer .....what if my Ipad sim gets damaged or something will i be able to get a replacement sim? if yes how much it costs?

U will get a replacement if they have in stock.Otherwise u need to get another SIM. Simple :)

Stock depends on the place u live in. Like if u are here in b'lore chances of getting replacement is slim.

can i buy another sim from the same exchange and just keep it as insurance ? if yes then the bsnl aunty knows me well ....wont she get suspicious or something? can i say that the second sim is for a relative of mine in another city where the ipad sim is not available?

So guys who got Ipad Micro Sims in bangalore....which CSCs did u get it from ?

I plan to go to the Koramangala one next week ?

So all I need is Rs 30 for the MicroSim + Rs 70 for the FRC which gives 1 GB per month for 6 months :D

I just successfully recharged my micro sim for 999 through PayTM.

Thx to the Member who gave this tip..saved me time going to CSCs/Recharge stalls :)

there is no rule that stats one can hold particular no of sim .

I have 3 of them with my name & same id proff & same exchange , they didn't objected .

if aunty knows u well , u can convince her that u either lost sim or gifted by another iPad or company gave for use & now u need another sim . Tell her if it's okay with that or I will need to buy on other's name .

I bought an iPad micro-sim in Noida last week and was told that it would take a few days for it to work after verification of the documents. I brought the sim to my house in Delhi immediately. I've been regularly checking if I get service on it by putting it in my iPad. It keeps saying "no service". So I sent someone from my office in Noida to the CSC to find out if the sim has been activated and they said yes. The sim is still not working. I've even put a micro-sim to sim adapter on it and put it in my Nokia. It doesn't manually connect to MTNL and on the homepage it says "sim registration failed".

Is it possible that it has to first be connected to BSNL for registration and then I can start using it on MTNL in Delhi? What I mean is that since the time I've bought the sim, it's been in Delhi only and I have only tried connecting it to MTNL. I'm guessing that it will start working once I take it to Noida and then I can bring it back to Delhi..??

Can someone confirm the same?

^ Its actually Rs 100 for the SIM, the Rs 70 FRC is done automatically on activation. You cannot do it separately. :)
Nope. Its a bit of more demand in b'lore.

Guys i found one more easy and hassle free way of recharging IpAD SIM.

haven't verified it,once i recharge will update it here.

I have seen an option of recharging IPAD SIM in HDFC and AXIS BANK mobile recharge option.

Haven't seen this in other bank, but it should be there.

If you select BSNL as your operator, then its asking for options whether TOP-UP/RECHARGE.

I guess choosing recharge option will do a recharge.

Will try it tonite.

OOps :(

AXIS bank has a limit of 1000 at one transaction :)

PayTM din't work for me :(

Did a 99 recharge after u posted on this forum, but wasn't successful. :(

Please Note

Recharge Limit per transaction is INR 1,000

Recharge Limit per mobile number per day is INR 3,000

Time interval between recharges is 15 minutes

So I guess you would have paid for a pre-activated sim as I dont know of anyone who have ever paid more than the price for a BSNL sim/connection. Grey market of BSNL micro-sims ...now that is something surprising. Anyway I m on the mission tmr to get the iPad sim...will go the nearest 4-5 CSCs and see what happens. I called few of the CSC aunty's and where there is stock....they r telling I have to do the 599/999 recharge also as mandatory and they r not gonna give me the connection w/o that ! I was like WTF....anyway worst case is I will take a postpaid connection so that at least if its nt working I will get it disconnected :P

If anybody has got in Bangalore ...plz pm me the details...will be very helpful :)

As of now I am happily using the 3GB Rs 98 recharge (2G/EDGE) and getting the so called proper speeds :P

Not pre-activated.

The SIM got activated the next day only.

The thing is IPAD SIMS are out of stock(atleast at IndiraNagar CSC ) but are available in plenty if u get the SIM from a middleman.

Go to BSNL CSC on Tuesday ,tomorrow its a 2nd saturday only cash collection counter will be open.So u may not get one.

If i get the ipad sim and do a recharge of 999 then can i use that sim in my mobile? Will the plan still works? Or does it need ipad to work?
