sorry blade, was posting in a hurry. Looks like a good board now. Are there any disadvantages to a mATX board? And is it widely availale?

And how good is the 6200? Especially compared to the graphics on the msi rs480?

Welll look at it has how good will it be for you and i say great cause with a ASUS A8N E + 6200 makes a much better combo then a MSI RS480... You get a NF4 Ultra chipset board that too from one of the best manufacturers which does one hell of a overclocking job on a 3000+ Winne ;)... Good Deal...

Disadvantages are the usual ones cramped layout, so cooling might b affected. Get a good cabby. Another is less expansion slots. For 6200 i dont know how it fares in cad/cam apps otherwise it is better than the x300 onboard.

Well then atleast a AMD 64 3200+
Get him a 6600 GT. A 6200TC, is just not up to the mark.
Its like a 5900 Ultra with SM3.0 and Dx9.0 support.

P.S. The Intep P4 3 ghz beats the 3000+.
Thus i was saying what i said.

Now we cant really have a FX-557 for him can we?

Most 3000+ chips will reach 2.4GHz without any issue on the stock cooler. So thats the frequency you should be comparing the 3GHz with.

Any benchies ? AFAIK 5900 ultra has a memory bandwith of 27.2 Gb/sec and a fill rate of 3600. compared to a 8.83 gbps and a fillrate of 1200.

Its not possible for him to get 3200+ and 6600GT. Itz better he goes with 3000+ Venice, A8N-E, 6600(non-GT)128MB and 1GB Ram. Dont go for 6200TC. If you are really in tight budget you can go for MSi Rs480 or foxconn nf4 with the 6600 128MB.

Ok lets see...

a64 3000+
foxconn nf4 (mAtx)
transcend 2*512mb
160gb pata
6600 128mb
17" flat
sony/ benq dvdrw
vip cabby w/powersafe 400W
spks, kb mouse

Hopefully this will be below 40K

The XT is the lower-end card. AFAIK even a plain 5900 should beat the 6200.

6200 is for very casual gaming. It will play all FPSes at 800x600 with low settings and most games like FIFA and NFS at 1024x768 with low details or 800x600 with medium settings. Not a bad buy if your on a tight budget.

The 6200TC will definately complement the Foxconn board well...

Yes, I know the XT is the lower end card.... but still, it shows the DX9 capabilities of the 6200 when compared wtih an older gen card from the same company.

Anyway, I think that zhopudey has already made his choice to go with the 6600.... that will be better.....

Well the choice has to be made by my friend, its his money after all. And that depends on the total cost of the above. If it is too high, the 1st thing to go will be the 6600, in favor of 6200TC.
(Is there a non TC 6200? Then I'll have to be careful while buying)

Actually, I would think that the non-TC would perform better.... will check on some benchies and post back(gotta go for dinner :bleh: ).

The TC is a fancy name for sharing onboard memory. It uses abt 32 or 64 mb of its' memory and uses the rest from the system RAM. That is what makes me think that 6200 non TC would give better performance.,

If I am wrong, sorry.... :(

--- Check in DX9 mode... the 6200 beats the 5900XT.

Ok, I was wrong abt the Ultra... but the XT is beaten by the 6200 in DX9 mode. This was what I remembered....

Hmm yes the FX series took a huge hit in dx 9 games, but then again the 6200 just doesnt have enough HP to run the dx 9.0 games at eyecandy levels. Besides in OPenGL the fx 5900 will outperform the 6200 by a margin.

if he is not playing game having any graphic card wont make any difference.

6600 -6200TC/non tc all will be same for his application.

Its all about the CPU there.

Dont compromise on motherboard. get A8N=E. That will keep better ocing option open and that will help him for his application.

The money saved by getting 6200 can be used to get 3200+ insted of 3000+
