"Fraudulent member List. " Exactly, as I said system is already in place ....before . Maybe admn could give pop-up warnings when they are around. Incase someone missed the list.

^ The list isn't/wasn't a system. The Mods were the system. Consider this a new proactive system, put in place by those who were running the system.

Some pretty good changes! The integration with the home page could be worked on though. I know others have put it down but still thought I should pen it in.
Are we looking at a new off-shoot of TE taking place - a Blog of sorts? Something similar to Fun Enclave?
Unless the idea of increasing traffic through the Wordpress portal was intentional, IMHO the Blog may be better incorporated within the original TE pages.

I feel totally left out. I am a tech/gadget freak. But the amount of knowledge and info here is quite a lot for me to absorb and will take a long time for me to actually start posting anything. Until then I am cut off from the site. Feel very bad about this.

^ Doesn't matter, it's never too late... :)

For starters, I would suggest concentrating on a few sections in particular(as per you interests) and slowly shift to the other sections.

Everybody needs to start somewhere.

I Miss the TE Buzz section on the homepage. So that i don not have to go through all over the forum for any new posts which arises my interest.

Weird post for being my first one. I definitely second the guy above who says that the member's market should be open for all.

There are hundreds of sites/forums out there where technical stuff can be discussed to death, and this too will always just be one of them. The difference i saw was the nice little trading thing that you guys had going. I finally thought that there was a noncommercial craigslist happening in india. i have a whole lot of computer junk that i wanted to dispose, some of which i would even just giveaway @ shipping prices. Ebay is not a place for that.

But now the philosophy you seem to have adopted is - "we don't trust you until you prove yourself otherwise". This is anyday a bad idea. I've been a moderator of a phone forum for the past couple of years and we've never worked like that. People are not guilty until proven otherwise!

So what if folks are using this place for a buy/sell/quick buck idea? As long as they are working it out and your forum is helping, then why not? You guys don't take any responsibility anyway. This is no paypal, no money refund. Then why the whole control-freakiness? Even just for buying - why does one need credibility for buying? The money always goes first!

It's just sad that when i finally take time and find this place, it gets a bout of neo nazi characteristics. Sad.

so how long till this post gets shot down?

If the TE staff doesn't take any responsibility, that doesn't mean that almost any bloke can do anything he wants specially in matters concerning hard-earned money. If a person turns out to be fraudulent, though its not "their responsibility", it affect the reputation of TE and creates a fear against online buying/selling and as the reputation of the forums is a responsibility of the staff, they should be concerned.
This new change is not because some Mod thought of it and changed it, it was because of thorough discussions and suggestions by respectable members of TE. Although I feel that if a person is the buyer, and wants to buy something off a premium member, there shouldn't be any problems in it, or things could be arranged so that buying something becomes easier then selling. The Marketplace is a privilege given to the members here, not the other way around. If people just want, as you said,"buy/sell/quick buck" then this is not the place for it. This is a discussion portal with a privilege given to its member who have come here for discussing/debating and increasing their knowledge and for helping others with troubleshooting etc.
I hope what I wanted to convey was conveyed and understood in the way I wanted it to be understood. :)

What exactly was TE buzz displaying and how was it displaying?

I never visited the old homepage but I am sure we can do something with the current one.

I think he meant the "New tech posts", "New Market Post" etc features as well as the latest thread list in the extreme right and left of the page.

Obviously people aren't going to be sending out money to 'Untrusted' people and then blaming TE or Ecom for any mishaps that may happen. Even in a place like ebay, where refunds or blacklistings are possible - there too feedback plays such a major role.

I just find it hard to understand that a deal gone bad is going to ruin the forum/staff's reputation. Everybody doing business here is smart enough to know the risks involved.

Thanks for your opinion on the buying bit. Mods/admins, is this point going to be considered for revision? I would love to buy some stuff here too.

I just suppose it's not the kind of place i thought it was, the kind I'm looking for. You think there's any other place which offers such services? Like i said in my orig post, i have old computer stuff which i think will be useful for other people. (Wireless mice/ ODDs / HDDs / 2 CRT monitors / random cables / network cards / few more). I want to lose them - dont really care about the money - they're eating space in my house. Cant/dont want to put them on ebay (a feedback of 25/30 is not good enough to be selling used stuff). Also it's a commercial organization - it's not a craigslist.

Yes we are considering it. It is up for revision. Based on the stats that we have gathered for a week we are going to make several small changes.

An update on the server slowdown issue.

We are aware of the server slowdown issues. The same will be rectified within a week. We are looking at our hardware and optimizing the site at the backend.

Unfortunately since we are still adding new functionality and changing stuff at the backend, we cannot enable the cache and some other tools at our disposal. We request to to be patient and thank you for your understanding.

rig gallery still says come back on 1st :P

Yes, unfortunately the admins, yours truly included :P, were a bit extra busy last week which has jeopardized our schedule.

The server slowdown fixing is the top priority. Rig Gallery will be live after that. (It can't be the other way round as in that case you won't be able to access TE at all ;))

If only we knew who was to be untrusted and who was not to be, there wouldn't have been any problem. And if you're saying that it could be figured out by the persons feedback, then what about the odd one-two person who got duped? Yes, there are risks involved, but isn't it better to take steps to minimize that risk? Another things that I had previously written was that this is not just a place where members are there just to buy/sell/make money etc [Atleast till now, it isn't]. It is a discussion portal, with a addon feature for members who have come for that purpose specifically.

Update as of last night:

New members will now have 5 moderated posts. After which they will get auto access to market section. We can revoke access when needed.

New members should be able to make a post in market section. However they cannot start a thread until they cross the 5 moderated posts.

Premium has been renamed to Privileged. Bold highlighting has been removed as it did not server any purpose.
