Would have good build up for the games though.
Seeing the eagerness the state govt showed in making my name is khan a hit i would have guessed then even a CWG would have gone hit then :P.

Please enlighten me as to whom i am blaming in my post? We the Indians or Politicians.

Its very easy to give the Funda that We,Indians as a whole have failed. But then I would say that we were not responsible for electing the Members of CWG Commission or the decisions they took. Its a bunch of individuals that have shamed us all in the End.

Heck i would go one step up and say that Its the Democratic mechinism that has failed in India! Thats the real reason why we are in this Mess,Democracy, An aggregate of Ideal Priciples that have no practical value :-| .
Politicians are Indians, and BTW giving any funda is easy and doing stuff in reality is what is not easy. We are not responsible for electing the members of CWG Commission but we are responsible for electing those who have elected them. The fault is in the Indian society and not just a bunch of individuals. If the democratic mechanism has failed then it is because of the citizens of the country. We as a society are corrupt and that is why the Politicians are, we need to start blaming ourselves and not each other for productive improvement. and coming to your post, you said "this will teach them (i.e. the govt.) a lesson", but the government is us, It is the citizens of this country who need to be taught a lesson. The group of individuals you are talking about were and are a part of our society, their thinking and value system has been inherited from the society.

There is a part of me that feels the games will be a success. But the amount of money these people have spent is unjustifiable.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

No matter whom we choose or whom we elect they always ends us in corruption. The failure of Commonwealth Games is just an example of their corruptions. Politicians just make some fake promises during the time of election and after occupying the throne they use to enjoy the supremacy only for their personel benfits. It seems that the wealth of India is just for corrupted leaders to enjoy themselves and the leftover is used for the little benefits of the common people. They use to allow illegal migrants from Balangadesh and use to get votes for them which has been a mojor issue for the people of Assam and soon will be an issue for the whole country.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

"The situation is under control"

"We are on top of things"

"The games will be a grand success"

"This is a minor setback and will be fixed before the games start"

I've heard/read these statements for quite sometime and would like the officials and politicians who made those comments to justify themselves. The gross incompetence of the Government doesn't surprise me (its always been that way), but they still think they can take us citizens for fools. Shame on the Government and our country.

I agree with your first paragraph. But The games will fail.

I will give my example why India can never come out of corruption. In my college days, I was part of NSS. I worked for NSS for love of social work. I used to put money for traveling to events from my own pocket. During third year, I heard from a NSS leader that there is lot of embezzlement happening in NSS. The money which was meant to be reimbursed to the volunteers was siphoned off by the leaders. I initiated a action. No one supported me even it is their own money. They listened but never bothered to ask about their own money to the leaders or take any action. They were involved in juvenile things that 90% of our stupid youth is involved. Nobody bothers about things like corruption or progress.

The racket involved a Professor, senior leaders who passed out of college and new leaders. I talked to the Principle about fund mismanagement but in vain. I got promises like we will see into it.

Then at last I said fu'ck everyone, I am getting my money. After lots of 'talks' to the leaders and the professor. Me and some of the leaders got their money back. In retrospect, I realized, this is how India works. People who bother are never supported. Corrupt people carry their activities without any impunity.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

I just saw this on Times Now - some guy who is apparently on the organizing committee of the CWG said this - We know - you and I know that our athlete's village quarters are clean but then they have a different level of hygiene and cleanliness !!! This statement sums up everything that's wrong with us as a nation!

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

^^^The as'shole is lalit bhanot. He made that comment a day before yesterday. They are showing the comment again and again probably to make us realize how our leaders treat our own people.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

That guy is Lalit Bhannot, he's freakin' CWG OC secretary-general. indeed an irony.

Does he not understand that this statement of his may prove him "filthy" ? (proving him stupid though)

Bridge can be an accident... That Ceiling can be an accident too. But this statement is "throwing your leg on axe"

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

BBC Sport - Commonwealth Games: Athletes' village photos

ITS A DISASTER AND THE WHOLE WORLD IS LAUGHING AT INDIA !!! So many top class athletes have already taken their name off the games on the concerns of security... Lalit Bhannot is an idiot and is talking shit tbh, also not far behind him infact miles in front of him is Mr Suresh Kalmadi (the Chairman of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee). I am so dissapointed by all this.. Clearly those photos are really unbelievable.. Through these politicians out right now...

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

I am wondering, if this the kind of mismanagement and chaos is there in an international event like CWG, what would be happening in national level tournaments/events? Even media doesn't care a damn digging into the national events.

If CWG is a diamond mine for babus, nationals should be goldmine.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Today's newspaper article about the top athletes dropping out of the CWG, ought to be a slap on their face. :|

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Breaking news - Suresh Kalmadi tried to hang himself, but the ceiling collapsed. :P

It's not just a slap on their face, it is a slap on our nation's pride. The politicians are shameless they wont feel a thing. It is people like us who will feel the sting.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

At least India can be proud of being most corrupted country in the world. There was a chance for us to prove ourselves but it seems everything is gone. There is no way we can compare us to China. There level is above our head. They have shown themselves what they can do by hosting the last Olympic Games. India can't event host the CWG after getting so much of time.

If the the stray dog is really hanging himself he is doing at least one good thing for the nation i hope the ceiling doen't collapse next time.

Im familiar with some of those scenes which i've seen in under construction buildings but those CWC labourers really trashed the place nicely with gutka and pan masaala and maybe piss even. Or

Notice the cat paws on the mattress. Maybe they sent them to catch rats.
