Confused between Motorola Defy and Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

guys really confused between these two I almost bought motorola Defy but it was out of stock and then galaxy SL arrived on flipkart for preorder. I like Defy's looks and build quality and design, this is where Samsung galaxy SL sucks. 1 Ghz proccy, 720p recording are positives. I am not sure if 4" display is positive feature as it increases dimensions. I own Samsung galaxy i5700 now and looking forward to upgrade. so my question is how much difference SGSL +200mhz proccy can make over Defy.

thats very well put dude

nice info

can you do us all a favour and add a lil on difference in the audio and video playback quality between the two???
Audio playback:

I use the Soundmagic PL 30, so music on the Defy sounds good (didn't bother to open the supplied ones...!)... The sammy sibling has similar quality though (my view you or somebody else may disagree), what Defy does have better than the I9003 is the speaker output... It is loud, and I mean LOUD enough to silence the I9003 at full volume...

Video playback:

I9003 bests the Defy here with DivX & Xvid support out of the box and 720p playback (but logical because of the 720p recording)... Defy only has Xvid support out of the box and that too upto 400*240 resolution (though it plays 720p mp4 with ease), but rockplayer (Android Market) saves the day... Enable hardware decoding and Voila...! the defy can play any format upto 720p without breaking a sweat... the chinese firmware update to 2.2 brings the Defy at par with I9003 though...

I can say this because I have the Defy and one of my pals at Office got a I9003 as a Gift from his GF (US version, 16 GB).. He likes it, but my personal opinion is that I9003 looks a crossover of iphone & the Samsung Star gone bad... Again my opinion, you or anybody else may differ...

That was me who bought the phone but following the discussion it has been sorted out that internal sd is divided & has a locked partition which you cannot access thus on Indian version 4gb you get only 1.86gb aprox for installing apps, for some this may not be an issue but you you are apps freak then it may not offer enough space, many apps don't let you install on external sd cards.

i've seen that the Defy has very bad viewing angles(30 degrees approx).the colours almost copletely wash out at around 50 degrees.the colours are bland for an lcd display.and it has a lousy camera interface.motoblur is a pain in the neck.

m plnin to buy one of these n did get a chnce to hold both of dem in hand.............................da defy feels much more solid than the galaxy...................frankly i feel da galaxy i9003s build quality leaves much to be desired.

but sadly i wasnt allowed to turn dem on. :(

i m prepared to sacrifice on da build quality fr sound quality(thru earphones as i also want my phone to double up as my mp3 player.)n da samsungs wolfson dac seems tempting.still waitin for feedbacks of sme1 who tried both of these personally

Bumping this thread as I'm in the same boat divided between Defy and I9003.
Now Samsung Ace has also launched, albeit with comparatively inferior innards than these two.
Can anybody please give me a low down of the differences between Adreno 200 GPU (Ace) and SGX530 (Defy/I9003)?

Adreno 200

Adreno 200, included as part of QSD8x50 chipset, is currently being used by many smartphones including Nexus One, HTC Evo and HTC Incredible.

Adreno 200 features:

First OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics processing unit with programmable Function Pipeline
Concurrent CPU, DSP, graphics, and MDP
Streaming textures that can combine video, camera, SVG and other image surfaces with 3D graphics
Although Adreno 200 performs quite decently, it has been grossly outperformed by the likes of PowerVR SGX540, which is included as part of Hummingbird chipset used by Samaung's Galaxy S series phones.
To a lesser extent, it is also outperformed by PowerVR SGX530, which is used by the phones such as Droid X, Droid 2 and iPhone 4(rumor).
Interestingly, this GPU was also recently included as part of MSM7x27 package, which typically runs at 600MHz (MSM7227 is used by HTC Legend, LG Optimus GT540, LG Loop. The 600MHz MSM7227 ran almost as fast on Quadrant benchmark as 1GHZ QSD8250, which is amazing given its lower clock frequency.
Adreno 200 is expected to stay for a while longer as part of MSM7x27 line-up, which is now considered to be a low-end.

hey i checked for the galaxy SL in a couple of shops in bangalore in jayanagar
most of them dont have it
and one of them quoted the same pre order price of 19.5k
that does not really make sense
right???
