yes. but isn't it lot more costlier than Core i5 750? With minimal performance difference between the two, it's better to go for Core i5 and put the saved amount on something else like getting better GPU which helps in gaming :)

thats a pretty low budget for a full gaming rig. Go for an AM3, save money and spend more where it matters (i.e GPU). A P2 965 is 9k now and a cheap motherboard is some 4.5k odd. I would rather go for a DDR2 setup as DDR3 does not have any real performance advantage.

should i go for lga 1366 or lga 1156:huh:...budget is 45-50k,,,my purpose is gaming.... so suggest..

Can you please explain for what is the above mentioned budget...Is is only for CPU or the whole computer...

if i pick core i5 with p55 board and put 4gig of ram, it costs around 22k. that's whole 10k cheaper. but is the performance difference worth the extra 10k?

if desperate for core i7, better go for 860 along with ud2 p55 board and 4gig of memory

For one time investment, Udit's suggestion is perfect. You can always upgrade to hexa core processor.

Or, you can get the i5 750 + Gigabyte P55 mobo for now and later get i9 + new mobo(1366). Selling i5 combo is much easier than selling an i7 + i5 combo has better resale value.

^^Hexa core processor won't be exclusive to LGA1366. who thought that core i7 will be launched on LGA1156. Though hexa core processor will come for X58 boards, it will be beyond reach in price and by the time it becomes affordable, Intel will release one for P55 chipset.
