CPU/Mobo Core 2 Quad Q8200 Information Revealed

Intel is planning to launch a Core 2 Quad Q8000 CPU series, offering entry-level prices to counter AMD's triple-core CPUs in the mainstream market, according to sources at motherboard makers.

Intel will launch the Core 2 Quad Q8200 in the third quarter this year, supporting FSB up to 1333MHz, L2 cache of 4MB and a core frequency of 2.33GHz. Pricing will be set around US$203 in thousand-unit quantities

In order to separate the Q8000 series from Intel's Q9000 CPU family, the Q8000 CPU series will not support Intel's VT and TXT technology.

Wow,I hope it;s worth waiting.A Q6600 with 4 cores is also about 200.

Q6600 sells for $209 ... this should have been around $160

These would be really cool for 3D rendering That doesn't make use of VT anyways

I think 8k series will replace q6600 at that price point. Will be a good option for people who dont need VT. But still, its not any improvement in terms of pricing.

If I were to go for a quad core proccy in Q3, maybe I will be shelling more than what I paid for Q6600 last year for a VT enabled quad.

but the Q8200 has only 4MB cache compared to the 8MB on the Q6600, its gonna b slower than the Q6600
