Want to get some *VERY important* documents from UK to india... which courier service should be relied on for it....

UPS

DHL is one the best for international couriers.

Both are good. I tried DHL & UPS and prefer UPS because DHL has lots of hidden charges. UPS is very transparent about import duty, they attach a copy of duty paid to Indian customs. Add to this a nominal clearing charge.

DHL doesn't give a copy of the duty paid by them + there are lots of additional charges (custom duty, additional custom duty, clearing charges & few others ).

All this is just FYI, it doesn't apply to you since you are shipping documents.

pafex is good

at least i had good experiences with them

the only problem for pafex is minimum rates which is 85 rs per Kg . no lesser limits

blaze flash experienced it first time today

no problems as such

but the tracking is not that good

and the service station was also not well equipped so will rely on pafex for my shipments

^ I just checked on PAFEX site and they say 45 for intra zone and 80 for inter zone for the first 500 grams. Also, surprisingly, FedEx India domestic quotes the latter at 70 bucks :)

hello! this thread is very very informative!!

Can you ppl please help me a little? My friend want to send me a used mac mini from US (pin: 931100) to me (bangalore, pin: 560073). We don't know what courier to use... USPS is cheap.. but got a lot of bad reviews about the Indian postal services.

I am very very confused.. I am thinking of other option as UPS.. Please suggest something.. the parcel is 8x8x4 inch and weighs 7 pounds.

thanks

USPS is good but as you know as soon as the package enters its taken care by Indian post and anything can happen to the package.Since you are receiving a worth full product please use good services like UPS /Fedex /DHL/TNT

thanks a lot for the reply.

What is the cheapest among UPS/Fedex/DHL/TNT? any rough idea?

Are they going to open my package to see what is inside? I was checking the USP cost calculator. there is something like customs/duties cost (though this can be neglected if I choose "no commercial value"). What should i put there? I don't have any idea about these.. (the parcel will consist of a used mac mini with some installations discs, cables and adapters, thats it)

DO not use original packing ,just ask your friend to use lots of bubble wrapper and pack it .Since its used product ask him to mark it as gift or no real value .DHL should be your best best ,$crew those online cost calculators ask your friend to drop into their stores and ask them the price.Fedex is fcuk expensive but their service is top notch.

I have run into all sorts of trouble with an ATI 4550 graphics card I bought from anooj30299301 he shipped it using Professional Couriers - something he did not specify when we had a deal. The card was shipped on 14th July from Hyderabad and was en-route to me at Ahmedabad. The online tracking shows the card was sent to Vile Parle(In MUMBAI) on the 14th of July from Hyderabad but there is no record of it being delivered at Mumbai. I called up the Professional Courier help lines in Hyderabad/Mumbai/Ahmedabad but no one knows where the consignment is. What do I do now?

^ I had a similar goof-up by Prof. recently with my MP21
sato1986 was kind enough to keep chasing them from his side

Finally, we heard from them saying the parcel is lost, i refunded to buyer and waiting after giving them a refund request

man y do u have to use professional couriers , the suck big time,

even first flight is good and cheap , absolute vfm if u cant use dtdc/bluedart

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

or better still use india post/speed post

this wasn't my fault. anooj30299301 sent it by professional couriers - i assumed he would send it by dtdc or first flight. now if the card is lost i guess he will have to refund the amount.

connect - i have sent more than 30+ parcels thro Prof and everything reached safe except this one instance
This can happen with any courier
They work out very cheap for me, hence
he ideally should. But what if DTDC or FF lost it.

Pathetic Service By DTDC Navi Mumbai / Vashi.

This is happening for the 3rd time now.

1st time was during 5770 that shripad shipped.

The Vashi branch received the card on the next morning itself..

they took 2 more days to look at it.. at last i had to call and collect it personally from their Vashi branch.. which is located in Nerul (Not even Vashi)

2nd instant was regarding a courier friend sent..

again had to collect in 2 days..

3rd is with abhisinalkar's ram..

he sent the ram on 16th..

the vashi branch has received it yesterday morning itself as i checked at 11am.

since then no progress till today afternoon..

today after noon it reached Vashi's Vashi branch of dtdc and it is 'Out for delivery' since 12 o'clock.

I wonder what on earth takes them to deliver a package 1km from their branch.

for 1st experiences it technically was not a Door To Door Courier service for me.

and now im doubtful if i will receive it tomorrow too..

As for they contact numbers..

Those are busy most o the times..

other times they pick it up and keep it aside, i can hear the other general voices on fone.

although they are very communicative on phone after delivery ours.

Fellow members, Please prefer other courier services if sending material to Navi Mumbai..

^ Start searching for Aramex office in Vashi . Those guys are really good ..atleast the Nerul franchise at railway station is best .Metro cities -60 Rs. delivery next day . Non-metro 70-80. .:) All for minimum 250 gms weight. Additional charges are hardly 30-40 bucks for heavier parcels. Tracking is very accurate and updated regularly .

arre, in all 3 cases im the receiver of the package.

from next deal onwards im gonna try avoiding dtdc at all costs..

or will ask the sender to pay less as i would rather prefer picking it up from dtdc office than to stay home all day awaiting the courier guy..

im mean.. what else would you do when you are alone and the tracking says 'Out for Delivery' ? :p

fck, they take more time to send stuff from nerul to vashi than it takes them to get stuff to pune from nerul :p

indeed i suggested Vichare couriers to two of the sender as they charge 35bucks per KG for next day express delivery :p
