Anyone owes this wonderful set of THX speakers?
whoopin 35Hz-40Khz.. titanium tweeters.. (Total 700W RMS)
i plan to buy this sets since 2 years..

can owner of the speakers reply with foll questions?
1.how much did it cost?
2.are there any amp/crackin prob? cause i heard the amp has probs.
3.Advisable for audio crazy like me?
4.Where can i have demo of this sets?

Not worth 35k for sure. Thats what it sells for in india. For that kinda price you can get a pair of excellent bookshelves and an entry level amp which will blow the socks off that creative. True you won't get surround sound but then again you get what you pay for :P. I think nikhil has the megaworks 550 which was the earlier model. Ask him.
 
yeah, I have the Megaworks. It rocks !! I got it for 14K from Bangkok abt 2 years back.

It may not be audiophile quality, but I am not yet at the Zhops-Chaos-Amol level of audiophilia.

The MW 550 is total value for money. And I get surround sound which is mindblowing in games and movies.

The Megaworks is actually made by Cambridge soundworks. And then badged as a Creative and sold.

It is worth the money paid. It may not be true audiophile quality, but I doubt you can get surround sound at that level of quality for less than 30-40K.

I got my Z5500 for 22k from LR ;).. n it rocks solid :D
 
oh.. hmm.. i think gigaworks better then Z5500 still.. as compared to frequency response 25-40Khz.. tweeter and woofer makes all difference in this set
 
Dude,

Z-5500 are the best in the world. The only competition is Klipsch. Creative speakers are no way near. I am not supporting z-5500 because i have them. The thing is I bought them just 2 months back after extensive research. The Klipsch are analog ones, so make sure u have a dolby / dts soundcard. But for Z-5500 you just need SPDIF (for movies). For games u r moslty supposed to use analog. Anyways, what I was saying is that Z-5500 and the pro media are a class apart. Even altec lansing is cool. But creative cant be compared to the Z-5500 :D

I have a Gigaworks S750....

I can say that I am not disappointed in sound quality, but I would not call myself an audiophile. If you use surround CMS on creative cards music sounds amazing if you tinker with the settings a bit. I paid roughly 36K for it 2 years ago. Personally I'm very happy with it, I'd recommend it.

Decadent_Spectre does it tremble ur house? i heard that S750 woofer is overpowered!
 
Pune.. not to sure if i will b visiting in this century :bleh: but will i be able to get Z5500 at lamington under 18k?
 
The woofer is a monster, my liver shakes.

After a year of ownership I had to get the woofer repaired so using even 75% woofer is ...not recommended. But you won't need to go to high because even at low levels the woofer should easily satisfy you.

This all depends on what sound card you use, make sure to use a good sound card or you won't really see the benefits of the speaker.
 
as chaos hinted out, if ur seriously having that budget for speakers alone, I'd rather put off the idea of any multimedia speakers. U can rather buy a 5.1 set of Wharfedale moviestar 60+ (19k) or moviestar 70+ (29k) + an entry level yamaha home theatre amp for around (10-14k) which will literally blow away any multimedia speakers.
