Credit Card Dilemma

People here are bragging about STAN-CHART and CITI but never felt the need to go for any more cards.

Its because the quality of service and resolution people get.

HDFC is poor at customer service. They call you for a bla bla card and telling effing lie about the cards. When you cross check with their site, you will find half the things were lied.

I know most people have HDFC CC card because their sales department is busy calling people who are need of a credit card.I can remember, i had applied for a CITI CC and god knows how did the HDFC guys came to know about my contact no. and i got a call the very next day.

HDFC is ok. Got EMI offers at most websites and retail outlets.

I personally feel that Citi has more offers but have no experience handling them .

I found the service of HDFC and ICICI to be totally lame and equivalent to dealing with street vendors. CITI is decent. Amex is damn nice.
<

AMEX charges you for that service too

the cheapest gold card comes at 4500 + ST

It is not about the money which they charge. The way they [ICICI/HDFC] interact; give BS suggestions; non emphatic; selfish; and non helpful. The personnel love to speak out of line, are red-taped, and handle profitable customers first vs. priority.

and it costs
<

Do not mind.

This is there business and how they sell is ridiculous IMO.

Just that you must know how to use those credit cards and they are ok.

Though you are right , but it totally depends on how much you spare , to blow away on these things !

I have both hdfc and sbi.

oout of two sbi card is handled by ass holes known as GE Money and they have donkey's looking after the customer care.

till the time its running good, its good.

once it starts throwing error with anything, its PITA.

they screwed up with auto debit facility.

i compared USD to INR rate for both.

HDFC is costliest then comes SBI card and least costly is Axis bank cards.MY sis who is student ,she is using them so we know it.

SO i would definitely recommend AXIS bank cards.

Costliest means ? Are you using CC as loan?

^^I'm assuming he meant the conversion rate.. when you buy stuff using the CC in USD and you have to pay in INR..

Recently acquired a Stan-Chart CC, as there was a offer for doctors for life time free card.

The acquiring process was horrible, the manager was adamant and nearly id10t, they insisted on both work and residence proofs which i provided then they insisted on undertaking from my dad, as house is a family owned. Lame.

My start with them is not good, just a tad above SBI, from whom I recalled my application.

Lets see how the spending ease and other interaction goes.

AMEX charges 5k + S Tax now for the general gold card, and have a minimum income criteria on top of this. But, there are no limits. This is not a credit card, but a charge card as per them.

Bumping this thread. Time to get a card for myself and probably looking for the one with zero annual fees. Is there one existing for Axis, Citi or anyother bank ? Can we get CC's from govt. banks like Canara etc., how's the service ?

My recent bad experience from Standard Chartered Bank :

THey have only one branch and one ATM in surat. They use automated cheque collector in ATM for cheque deposits, their all 3 machines in Surat are non functional for quite some time now.

They dont even take complaints personally (branch manager), On phone (Phone banking).

I tried 3 times to deposit cheque and the rude / arrogant answer was that if machine is not working come in banking hours time to deposite cheques. They cant even send a person to collect cheque as I dont have an account with them while rest of the banks do send a person.

Ultimately I had to go there during banking hours and deposit the cheque, Dont tell me about NEFT as this was a cheque from a friend for whom I purchased through my card, and It was not possible for some reason with him that he could not initiate the NEFT transaction.

So people in tier 1 / tier 2/ tier 3 cities where such multinational banks have scarce presence dont go with them just because of their promise of better customer care, they are as shitty as other such perceived local banks like ICICI / HDFC.

I am not going to use this card again till it gets deactivated.

Standard Chartered is horrible. Bunch of arrogant new MBAs. Customer Care is laughable. Once, the b**ch asked me to pronounce my name according to what was updated in her records. I spelt it out so that there would be no confusion. She insisted on me pronunciating it according to her wishes. That was one funny experience.

I'd advise people to stick with HDFC, ICICI or SBI.

sbi also is outsourced and screwed up customer care who has its own mind, full or arrogant kids who dont know what is meaning of word customer care.

I wont advice sbi credit card.

I would advice axis bank cc.
