The effects definitely are multiplied but yeah, almost unplayable on my PC.

I have the in game res set at 1360*768 but the game automatically starts in 1920*1080 @ 24Hz. I wanted to try it in 768p, too. Anyways back to Crysis 2.

Just like Crysis, you guys will be able to better appreciate this patch when next generation of cards arrive. Its a clever move as it extends the game's life.

Totally agree. C2 acc to me is the best looking game now.

Sent from my Motorola Defy.

@bluffmaster: It's not much of an issue with FPS drop... but it actual quality update. The marketing video by EA shows some of the differences, which are quite nice. However, judging by the comparison screenshots from various reviews, it's hard to spot the difference between regular and hi-res textures. Similarly, the differences between different modes are also not very significant. Overall, this just feels like a bone thrown to barking dog (us, gamers) to pacify for the whole console port fiasco, rather giving us a proper meat for our money. Sure the game is now DX11 and all the added features are nice, but in the end it's just all a big patch-up work than what actually should have been the main release.

In the end... I'm sure most of the gamers will agree that Crysis2 isn't what Crysis was. There won't be a meme of "Can it run Crysis2" like it's predecessor. Once again, console gaming has screwed the PC gamers for their money.

Hmm, I liked Witcher 2 much better. Even the ENgine, RED engine, is a marvel.

If you guys would have closely noticed, the shadows beside the windows, the light intensity at night time, would flicker. It was all real time, not static like Crysis 2, or trees bobbing left and right dancing like sticks on chicken.

Real-Time, was really really well done. The weather, rain, amazing, I was very very impressed with that. The textures were pretty, the game was pretty, it took the same amount of RAM as Crysis 2, gave almost the same fps(w/o maxed out ubersampling), the story was epic, and the characters were very very well done(the butt textures were paid attention to).

Overall, till June 2011, Witcher 2 has been the best game yet. The other games which follow this "BEST" list of 2011 are: (in random order)

- Dead Space 2

- Crysis 2

- Portal 2 (co-op part)

- Dirt 3(a few parts only, low on the list)

Apart from tessellation and improved water rendering, I don't see any major improvement TBH.

I'll replay this game anyway. :ashamed:

Just like Dx10, DX 11 has been meh so far! Not much difference and no real improvement in performance!
May be BF3 will change that, but still it ll be just one game.. DX 11

DX 9,10,11...... It doesnt really matter any more.Real improvements will arrive when new xbox and ps4 comes out in 2013-2014.

Yes, till then the poor PC gamers will have to make do with their turtle slow processors and pixeleted graphics. Until the Power of teh Consoles enlighten us all !!

Phail Troll Much?

OT: It doesn't look like the performance hit is proportional to the visual improvements. Crytek really failed hard this time. So much for loyalty :|

The final boss fight is probably one of the worst shooter ending. And the cut scenes got worse as the game progressed.

Even if this thing comes out in Dx100000, will give it no-go.

I hope RAGE doesn't offer something similar. I pray that id develops the game for the PC first and ports it to the console.

I agree with compaddict's list but I would order it in a different manner.

I have all those barring portal 2 and I end up playing Crysis 2 the most, but that's me.

On a different note have any of you guys watched the crysis iron man game play?

Seriously... as I had said earlier, the day iD pulls Console-to-PC crap is a sad sad day for PC gamers worldwide.

Yeah, true that. Under DX11 mode, Extreme settings, visual quality is same as DX9, but performance is a hit.

Sad. DX11 codepath was supposed to be more efficient.

I'm finding this a little difficult to understand, first Crytek does not launch the dx11 version, for whatever reasons, then PC gaming fraternity cries foul, Crytek launches a dx11 update. Yes it takes a performance hit and the visual effects are there for only the eagle eyed to see, but common man at least I'd like to have the ability to switch to dx11 whenever I want.

actually, the broken multiplayer and hackers was the complaint. DX11 everybody started facing the truth, how much can they change with a patch, DX update, to a corridor shooter after all? A true console port eh!

EDIT: Anybody downloaded the Map Editor? It's another HUGE 1.3GB update man. I feel lazy and don't wanna download it. But still, want to try it out!!

And it's a 64-bit exclusive.
