Updated but pls stick to the format in which to report, and next time a cpuz and a gpuz in the screenshot woudl be great!
Thx for posting. good score for the 3870!

maybe a better clock on the cpu :)

he was also once out to prove that fps in crysis is hugely dependant on cpu speed

and btw...i think the one with config tweaks went OT

i think the guy was asking in general :p

Lol okie I thought u meant changing them for the benchmark lol, :p

But yea I would hope ppl dont do that coz finding out abt it is difficult, but I have some good info with relative performance, on a variety of systems. this thread should serve as a guide to how a system can perform with different hardware mixing! :)

Changing cvars and using config files would make it loose its purpose.

@vivek : thats a good long list, but I noticed u dont have a high overclock on ur procy, still the score is pretty high!

peace

^actually i had it on 3.1 for a fortnight since cyclonic disturbances helped in the ambient cooling, but the gfx card wasn't stable at that oc,would stop working in cod4 sometimes. :(

just need a multimeter and a decent lead pencil :D

That is a impressive overclock, what kinds of temps do u reach, hows the airflow in the case? Cooling is the key for high overclocks, And just to make sure scan for artifacts using atitool and back of until u dont fail it or see yellow dots for atleast 5 mins. That should bring u to some stable clocks.

^^his core goes as high as ati tool allows, but the memory wont OC 1mhz also
and forget about cases....we leave them open neways :)

Not very different with me either, I leave it open while benching and a table fan facing it on full speed lol :p

Memory is totally dependent on cooling, the better the cooling higher ur memory will go :)

^^the stock cooler on the 3870 is decent...the fan speed is the only thing that has to be increased

by default the fan doesnt work at desktop...but with the 3d fan settings he ran on it, the load temps were less than the idle temps lol

^^generally they overclock way high....around 2.5-2.7ghz from the 2.25ghz stock
his just doesnt
the core as well goes from 775 all the way to 862 in his (862 is as high as the drivers allow, to go higher you need to mod the bios)
its a good card to OC

My clocks.......

bud ur almost there, please use this format

your id avgfps 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 -- gpu @ actual speed -- cpu @ actual speed -- cooling(air/water/extreme)

this is how mine looked when I posted!

High 1280x1024

i_max2k2 - 69.74- Q6700 @ 3.9Ghz - SLI 9800 GTX @ 840/2035/2400 - All Air

thanks again!
